The emissions that farms produce and the effect of factory farming on animals (or just animal consumption in general) have been weighing on me for a while. I've been trying to consume more fish and chicken and keep red meats & dairy to the "once in a while" column.

But what's going in The Netherlands seems kind of terrifying, even if the farmers (and inevitably the right-wing extremists who latch onto these things) might have some hidden motives. Governments deciding to basically slash their agriculture sector by a third and implementing this cut by instructing local governments to arbitrarily close farms to comply with this policy doesn't sound like the correct answer to our problem and is only going to fuel the "conspiracies keep becoming reality" crowd.
