My husband is a little squirrely off the tee box.
My parents moved there in 74 and I lived there or Joppatowne until I headed to California in 89.Hey @forty_three I think I remember you may have spent some time around Edgewood Md. If not, never mind. If so there is a novel out now set there that is pretty interesting. Its called Chasing The Boogeyman by Richard Chizmar.
Its kind of a coming of age book that the author inserted a serial killer into. So a lot of it is true, a lot of it is not. Im about a 3rd of the way in and its very enjoyable. The first chapter was kind of a history of the area.
Cool, the book is set in 88.My parents moved there in 74 and I lived there or Joppatowne until I headed to California in 89.
I will check out the book, thanks! The history of the place is much nicer than the present of it.
Once upon a time, Edgewood was the blue collar suburb of the Proving Grounds and some of the overflow from Bethlehem Steel. And yes, we did think Fallston was the "Rich kids". That is all very plausible.Cool, the book is set in 88.
Not sure if this is true but it made me laugh - he said the very blue collar* Edgewood high school lacrosse team was playing the very fancy and uppity* Fallston team. After it was clear Edgewood was going to win the Fallston crowd started chanting "It's alright, its OKay, you'll all work for us someday!". lol
*I did not know either of these things
I did not know that. He said he based it on the "phantom fondler" imagining that his crimes escalated...I just read the summary on Amazon. There was a mutilated body of a girl found there in 1988. I went to the same school as her, she was a year behind me. But it wasn't a serial killer. Just a spurned dickhead.
I went to school with him too, had 3 classes with him the year before.
I remember that as well. Very careful Google search terms indicate they caught the guy.I did not know that. He said he based it on the "phantom fondler" imagining that his crimes escalated...
There was a series of home invasions where an unknown male assailant illegally entered dozens of Edgewood homes – mainly at night through unlocked doors and windows – and caressed the hair, legs, and arms of sleeping women. Once the woman awoke, the man took off and disappeared into the night.
Lol
I loves me some scrapple. Pennsylvania Dutch food is some of the best food out there.
And I thought Rocky Mountain Oysters were cow patties.
