Damn, Shanghai sounds sketchy. I follow strangers into massage parlors in Bangkok all the time.

So after all the "second headquarters" stuff, Amazon went and opened two satellite offices.

Glad they didn't come here. I would've had to move to Buffalo and commute every day.
What is even worse they already have plenty of office real estate in NYC so nothing changes from their perspective.

Also with the high rent costs this is what they will expect with their new workers.

They pay their people enough to afford the rents in these large cities.

It's everybody else who winds up living like that.

To an extent they do but not all.

Yes that is very true all real estate near these locations in Crystal City and Long Island City will skyrocket worse than they already are making it impossible for others to live there.

The low-paid Amazon people, for the most part, are the ones who work at the "Fulfillment Centers" ie: warehouse workers. Their tech people are pretty well compensated since there's so much competition out there for their services.

The Bronx is pretty much the only borough left untouched right now by any sort of mass gentrification and my guess is within a matter of years Amazon has some offices there and the condos follow and before you know it they're building a new subway line from there to Queens.

Wasn't even discussing the Fulfillment Center workers that is totally different. This is from common knowledge and folks that work and have worked there that wages depend greatly on when and who hired you. With their "game of thrones" approach you have to be in the right place/time. With that said yes in NYC/DC they will be extremely competitive with their wages and will have to be to keep the talent long-term.

As for the Bronx yep it won't be long before it is like the rest of the City.
