Lebron has to be worn out with all the consecutive postseasons. Steph was banged up. Not sure about CP3. To me, CP3 is the biggest miss (need that true PG and leadership).

Yeah, I guess Lebron has played a little basketball over the past few years. lol

Agree about CP3. Just adding him would make a world of difference on this team.

2 questions:

What possible reason would he have to lie about this?

What is the IOC thinking here? I realize a prominent Olympian getting robbed is a bad look for them, but refuting his story after it happens is much worse.

Only watched the last few minutes of the first half, but the ball movement looks 1000x better than against Serbia. If they pass this well, the will surely win gold. That said, I would still like to see smarter roster construction in the future.

Who would you have suggested for this roster from what was available? Meaning you can't select guys who declined for personal reasons or injuries.

Derozan and Barnes should not be on the team. I also don't care for Cousins. The team looks much better when Jordan is in. They have plenty of scoring, but they need another rim protector/defender at the 5.

Remove those 3, add in guys like:

Drummond- not sure if he was invited
Korver/Reddick
And any pass first PG so Kyrie can play off the ball.

We don't need 5 primary scorers on the court at a time. It is pretty stupid really. It isn't a talent problem. Let 2-4 carry the scoring burden. Keep a defensive 5 and a true PG on the floor too.

By the way, the PGs and 5s don't have to be all star caliber players. They just need to be good at their very specific jobs.

Watching the last 3 games, this team is so much worse with Irving and Cousins on the floor. Irving dies on every screen thrown his way and is getting toasted. Cousins makes no effort at all to slide his feet and work as a deterrent between the guard and the roll man. Offensively, Cousins is doing nothing but pouting and playing selfish basketball and is only getting rebounds that fall into his hands instead of battling for them. Irving is taking the air out of the ball, destroying any kind of ball movement, and while his assist numbers are high, I swear half of them are on broken plays where he picks up a loose ball and flings a pass to an open person. Today's game was a good example. We had a comfortable 10 to 12 point lead with Lowry and Jordan in their place. Take those two out and insert Irving and Cousins, it dwindled to one and two possession games.

Also, Kevin Durant has been playing lazy as shit the entire Olympics. He's just standing around waiting for the ball to come to him instead of moving around to set himself up for shots.

The roster is what it is but it looks like the best lineup needs to be Lowry, Thompson, Durant, Melo, Jordan or flip Melo/Durant for Derozan or George. Derozan is at least active in cutting off ball and is getting things going and George seems to be the only wing willing to put for any kind of effort defensively. Those two have been pretty decent off the bench but Coach K isn't using them down the stretch and its killing the team.

I agree with everything you said in the first 2 paragraphs.

Simply shuffling the lineup won't fix the problems though. Yes, a lineup of:

Lowry, Klay, George, Durant/Melo and Jordan would work better, but there are still problems. Too many ball dominant scorers in this team, especially considering some don't want to defend.

But Wiggy, that is a large part of the problem. It is impossible to get in any type of flow when the ball sticks. How many possessions begin and end with Kyrie? That should almost never happen with this much offensive firepower on the court.

It isn't totally his fault. He is who he is. Kyrie should not be used as a point guard. He doesn't even really play point for his own team. LeBron quarterbacks the offense.
