I like having a close win. It is the best of both worlds in the preliminary rounds.

It gives them something to focus on in practice.

Too many jump shots. We had over 20 offensive rebounds and just threw it back out for another jump shot. Whenever they took it to the hoop, good things happened. And you aren't going to the line (one of this teams strengths) when you're shooting jump shots either. Just didn't feel like exerting any extra effort tonight. Melos shots going in bailed this team out.

This is maybe our C roster. I can think of quite a few players who I would prefer on team USA instead of Lowry, DeRozan, and Barnes

I agree with this.

I don't think Team USA needs an A list roster, or even a C- roster. I would just like to see them be more intentional about getting pieces that fit. They need point guards who create for others and more wing shooting.

True PGs are a dying breed. All is wilting in favor of jacking up shots. They need MORE wing shooting? That's all they have, albeit a bit diluted due to DeRozan and Barnes being on the team, as they are hardly reliable from 3. A player with a back-to-the-basket post game would be nice, but again, a dying breed.

Kyrie helped bail out this team, but with ball-handling and shooting, not really running the team (of course, he isn't allowed to on his own team either). Chris Paul would be huge for this roster.

Strange having the foreign team being the more physical team.

Kyrie playing 2 would be just fine. I was thinking about what PG I would want to see, and aside from CP3, I couldn't really think of one I would want. Conley perhaps?

Yes, more wing shooting. I know that sounds weird, but the role players (Barnes/Derozan) are not shooters. I hate that. Would rather see somebody like Reddick or Korver, or a lock down defensive ace.

I would rather see Westbrook out there.
The international players are far less athletic.

Westbrook's crazy turnover prone game would not generate nearly as many fastbreaks.
In the NBA, his turnovers are killers because everyone is a crazy freak athlete going the other way for points.

He plays so physical and is a whirling dervish defender....only his turnovers hurt him but not as much in Olympic style.

They didn't play hard against Australia. That's the only issue. Durant, Thompson, and a couple of others were going halfspeed just chucking shit. Melo just looked around and was like "Are you guys serious? UGH. Fine. I'll win this". Australia is a good team though

Westbrook would be a great addition to the team, but I don't want him playing point either. Play Kyrie and Russ off the ball and bring in a true facilitator like CP3 or even LeBron.

I just think that when you have a shoot first PG on a team with this much scoring firepower, you end up wasting resources. Guys feel like they aren't getting the touches they want, and next thing you know they start taking bad shots. It becomes contagious.

A PG with a Jason Kidd type mindset solves all of that. They don't even have to be that going of a player, they just have to look to set the table for others first.

they leaned on Kyrie and Melo for this one.

kyrie was the MVP of the FIBA qualifying tournament last summer- not team mvp- TOURNAMENT mvp.....and he had some really nice moments again last night. Right now it looks like if it gets close they are gonna lean on Melo and KI to finish things off.

To be fair, he's the #1 option for Spain, he won't be the #1 for the Spurs. I mean, I saw him take a pull up 3 pointer in these olympics, he won't be taking those kinds of shots in the NBA. He's also a Big with finesse which is a rare commodity in today's game. He will be fine.
very true. He just looks really slow. Dont get me wrong I wouldnt leave him open.

Yes, the last thing the Bulls need is a guy who averaged 16.5 points and 11 rebounds while playing in 72 games last year.
He declined down the stretch. No we dont need him. Im ready to rebuild. He will be a good fit for the spurs but for the Bulls not so much.

He definitely has had some decline. Dude's 36, it happens. The problem the Bulls had was that they needed him to produce like he was 30. He did for awhile, but as you point out, he faded down the stretch.

Agree that he'll be a great fit for the Spurs.
