But I like beating Toronto because I was told on a few occasions in the past that Columbus being successful is the death of "the great Canadian game". There is one person in particular who used to come here that I am convinced cuts himself in his nether regions when the Leafs lose to Columbus. It makes me giggle.

Not at all, he's been very bad most if not all season.

I do think Ericsson should be in the mix for healthy scratch and I do think it's tough to sit Marchenko because he has played well. The thing I have a bit of a problem with though is contained within the analytics of that linked article.

Blashill has smartly put Marchenko on the ice most often against the opponents' 3rd & 4th lines as he accrues NHL experience. In contrast, Blashill routinely rolls DeKeyser on the ice against the opponents' top scoring lines and pairs him with one of the Wings' most-struggling defenseman to help balance production. Those numbers as presented make Marchenko look clearly like the Wings' best defenseman and DeKeyser one of their worst which is far from the truth.

Probably. I thought of it this way though.

Shatty > Drouin (Drouin has potential but Shattenkirk makes TB's blueline look pretty damn good)
Berglund, Fabbri and 1st < Stamkos (Pretty standard return for a star rental but Stamkos is obviously still the best part of this equation).

Stammer would have to waive his NTC (and I believe Berglund as well), but that's probably as even as you would get.

I really hope that the Blues undervalue Shattenkirk...that's my deadline desire for this season. That said, that'd be a pretty awesome deal in a hockey fan perspective. BIG move. If they could do that before 7:30pm today, I'd sure appreciate it.

They're such a weird team. They're big, they have one of the greatest young talents in the game, solid (although not super star) goalies, seems like they should be producing more than this. From a selfish Pens fan perspective: lots of Shatts talk, and I think they're so enamored with big bullish net front guys that a Hornqvist-Shatts move may work.

I don't think it is the case though. Hell, Glencross brought a 2nd and a 3rd last year and he was so highly thought of that he couldn't find a job anywhere this year.

One decent rivalry was shaping up with Nashville. But we moved divisions.

The powers that be keep trying to shove a Pittsburgh rivalry down our throats, and Brandon Dubinsky does his best to perpetuate it by chasing Crosby like he's an ex boyfriend scorned.

The problem is, we aren't really good enough for any other fanbases to hate us, we have no playoff pedigree and outside of Jeff Carter, there is no opposing player our fans want to kill. No rivals, we're like the little brother that you have to bring along. No point in hating us.
