Also, and this should really go without saying, no matter how many Cups the Kings win they'll never get analysed the way guys who play in Canada or more traditional Yankee hockey markets do.

I think that goes both ways though (as in guys who are playing well sometimes don't get the recognition that they should due to people not bothering to analyze in greater detail based on the market).

Quick is having a better season than Anderson so it's gonna be skewed a touch regardless, but the Sens are allowing more than a full goal per 60 more with Karlsson on the ice than the Kings are with Doughty. I'm not denying Doughty can get blown by on occasion, but overall LA's better defensively with him on the ice than the Sens are with Karlsson and it's really not close at the moment even when taking into account that Karlsson is better offensively.
First as a Kings fan, I want no one on my favorite team to win any individual awards. It just makes them more expensive to resign.
Heard an interesting stat the other day. Doughty is the only player to lead his team in TIO for PK and PP and 5 on 5.

Is any of that related to systems/style? The Kings play rather "low event" hockey in general, no?
I don't doubt that it is, and as I said Quick is having a stronger season than Anderson has to date but even with that being the case you can't deny Doughty plays a big role in that system.

FWIW I would probably rather Karlsson on my team than Doughty. It wouldn't be by that large a margin though.

Well, Luke Schenn will now be around to lessen the load!

Maybe, but given that I've long been a defender of career-high 48 pt Kadri I sure as shit ain't gonna be wearing that label.

I've never, not once, called Toews a better player than Sid, exalted his leadership, uttered the phrase "but it's the other things he does" or any else of that Simmonsesque shit, nor do I wish to be classed with media members of that ilk. Closest I've ever come is stating I would choose Toews over Crosby were the choice ever mine to make (save in fantasy hockey). It's an opinion, I don't expect universal or even sparse agreement, and I don't really care that there are probably more ways to prove it as an ill-advised choice than a well-advised one.

I don't see how the bolded aren't the same thing. It's not even like they play different positions or anything.

I'm also not sure I understand how not criticizing Kadri for low point totals shows anything regarding double standards. Under a double standard aren't some guys going to not be criticized while others are?

I want to be clear that I'm not trying to attack you or call you Steve Simmons, I don't think you're generally like that at all. But I think that you might have a bit of a blind spot when it comes to Toews specifically, which a lot of people do.

LA can't have any cap room left even with Philly retaining 50% of both of those contracts.

Vincent Lecavalier will play for the #kings for the rest of the season and intend to retire at the end of it. Last season in the NHL.

#Flyers' buried / retained salary is astronomical: Vinny ($2.25M), MacDonald ($3.975M), Schenn ($1.8M), Gagner ($2.25M), Grossmann ($500K).

Holy schniekies.

So Martin Erat gets a press conference but Mike Richards barely gets a tweet?

My 5 years old knowledge basis first thought "damn, LA screwed Philly. Is Holmgren still the GM?"

Then I realized it was 2016 and said "Yawn".
