Eh. They aren't much different to Edmonton. Been rebuilding for a decade and have only slightly more than Edmonton's nothing to show for it.

I feel fine with people feeling likewise about the Leafs, FWIW. Teams that are shit for forever need to be punished, not rewarded.

You say "rebuild" I say "repeated shooting of their own feet".

Nash's entire history here, he was an elite winger who just needed a Center. They finally drafted a guy who was going to be that center and they trade Nash (asking him to leave). Then they said Joey needed an elite winger, they traded for Saad. And didn't let them play together.

They had a coach who can't motivate, so they fire him and hire a guy who could make anyone want to commit suicide.

That coach demotivates their franchise player by asking him to completely change his game, so they trade him and patched a hole that would likely be patched next year anyway (Paliotta and Werenski) while creating a much, much bigger hole that will be practically impossible to fill without winning a draft lottery.

And that new guy (who is picked up for his current skill set), will likely be asked to change his game as well. So in two years, he'll be a bust and will probably get traded for magic beans. After being given a long NTC contract.

In all seriousness, Ryan Murray and Seth Jones stabilizes the Jackets backend for the next decade. Even if the Jackets don't win the draft lottery, they will be likely picking either #2 or #3 and there's plenty of top end talent if this recent WJHC tourney is any indication.
