The deal doesn't have to be younger guys. However, it can't be straight up for a player who can walk at the end of the season. The Islanders can't afford to be stuck with nothing for a player like Hamonic. He's far to valuable for that to happen. At worst Hamonic is a #3 or #4 defenseman on a Cup contender. Let me put it this way. He would be absolutely perfect on the Blackhawks right now. Garth isn't going to give him away.
I don't think Garth would trade for Buff without negotiating an extension.

And I don't think he'll give him away, either, but it would be better for all involved if this is dealt with sooner rather than later.

Like I said Garth has known for 2 months. Hamonic is prepared to finish the season with the Islanders. If he's not dealt during he season it will happen at he draft or over the summer.

Yes, I know Hamonic has said he's prepared to play the entire season with the Islanders. If Garth doesn't get a deal that makes sense, Travis might do just that.

Honestly, that's what I hope happens. The Isles have zero leverage here. It might be best to wait until the off-season. Hamonic could be traded for a F in the off-season that way. Can get another equivalent D through UFA.

I like Hamonic, wouldn't mind him with Ottawa.

Here's a fun fact: Tyler Bozak has the same number of points as Phil Kessel!

Maybe it was Bozak carrying Phil all those years? :noidea:

Pull into the garage.
"Sens going to the power play, tied at 0"

Come inside, pour a drink then check on the kid doing homework. Turn on TV, Sens up 2-0.

*sigh*

Alex Ovechkin is now the all-time leading Russian-born goal scorer! He is barely 30.

This could very well be the greatest player I get to see on my home team in my lifetime. Congrats to him. He is probably one of the 3 or 4 best goal scorers the game has ever seen and he is a joy to watch night in and night out. Kudos, OV.

Haha. I meant to say "home hockey team." That raises an interesting question for me though - over all the sports, who is the greatest to his sport I've seen. It's probably either Ovechkin or Cal Ripken.

Hard to say for me because I went to a lot of games that Brooks Robinson played in too. Probably still Ripken, but I worshiped Brooks.

Ovechkin is head and shoulders over anyone I've ever seen play in DC except maybe Langway.

Yikes, David Savard just nailed Bobby Ryan and got five and a game for boarding.

Hope Ryan is okay, just careless and stupid on the part of a guy who doesn't usually do that. Ryan looked hurt pretty bad.

Yeah, pretty bad from Savard but not the worst I've seen. Actually not even the worst from the BJs this game. Calvert's on Borowiecki was worse, IMO.

The BJs played pretty douchey tonight. Amazing how a team that I used to kinda like gets like this when Torts takes the helm.
