GIF: Should Savard Be Suspended For Hit On Ryan? | My NHL Trade Rumors.com

The general consensus is that Davad Savard is obligated to make that hit, and they will thank me to shut about some stupid "rule book".

It was charging and boarding and five at least was appropriate. The game came when they realized how Ryan was hurt.

If anyone hit Ryan Johansen that way, there would be pitchforks and riots. I can't wait to see what happens when Savard gets two games.

The league rescinded the game misconduct, so naturally it's a ref conspiracy against the Jackets and they would have won that game like 100-0 if it wasn't for that stupid call.

I am fine with the five, and I would not have argued the game as a coach. I wouldn't have liked it, but I can see the justification for it at the time. It was chippy and I am sure the refs feared losing control. Gamer may have been excessive with only four left (in terms of keeping peace), but it's a penalty all day long to take that many steps to git a guy, especially one without the puck.

The game misconduct is automatic when you call a major boarding and there's associated injury. I made the mistake of doing a twitter search to find the video. The comments weren't the bestest. Then again, it's twitter...I should know to have low expectations.

If your we're old enough to see John Riggins he was pretty great. A goof but great.

Brooks was a bit before my time, timewise its possible I saw him but by the time I was old enough to appreciate him he would have been a shell of what he once was.

I might, might, go with Eddie Murray over Cal.

I saw Riggo as a kid, but can't say I really remember him. I did think of him though. Darrell Green was also someone I considered.

I don't blame you on Eddie. He and Cal were 1A and 1B on those '80s Os teams (and it was more fun to chant "Ed..die...Ed..die." I probably say Cal because he started right at the age I began going to baseball games, he became the Iron Man while I was in college, and retired after I was an adult, so he spanned a huge portion of my life.

This might make a fun Mount Rushmore-esque thread actually.

The comments are to the effect of "legal hit," but hitting from behind (and it clearly was from behind) near the boards is never a legal hit. Just that alone makes it a penalty. Maybe it's a major, depending on when he left his feet (it's tough for me to tell if he launched into the hit or came off the ground after contact).

Report: Wild talk to Islanders about Travis Hamonic trade - Sportsnet.ca

"Excluding Winnipeg, the closest NHL city to Travis Harmonic’s home is Minnesota."

That's some good butchering to start a post with.

Hamonic would be a decent pickup for Minnesota, no idea what the Islanders would want in return though.

An amazing thing about Riggins, beyond the amazing amount he could drink, was he rushed for 1300 yards and scored 24 TDs when he was 34 years old! 1200 yards and 14tds when he was 35. Thats unheard of.

It would be nice if the two sides could have some kind of convergence in regards to Hamonic.

RyJo's in shape and lighting the lamp - Jackets out to a early 2-0 lead over the Perds.

Jackets being outshot 26-12, yet leading 3-0. Could it be the return of
