Haha. I meant to say "home hockey team." That raises an interesting question for me though - over all the sports, who is the greatest to his sport I've seen. It's probably either Ovechkin or Cal Ripken.

No love for Wes Unseld?

Pull into the garage.
"Sens going to the power play, tied at 0"

Come inside, pour a drink then check on the kid doing homework. Turn on TV, Sens up 2-0.

*sigh*

Not to worry. Your tam fulfilled their coaches mandate: try, and succeed, to injure multiple Senators.

That game really pissed me off.

If your we're old enough to see John Riggins he was pretty great. A goof but great.

Brooks was a bit before my time, timewise its possible I saw him but by the time I was old enough to appreciate him he would have been a shell of what he once was.

I might, might, go with Eddie Murray over Cal.

I saw Vincent Damphousse play in person a few times, he's the obvious choice.

Damphousse for HOF!

I'm not old enough to remember the Gilbert Perrault or OJ Simpson (football at least) days, so I guess for me it would have to be Dominik Hasek.

Any word on Ryan? That was just plain stupid.

Hmmmm...okay, technically I got to watch Mario, but it wasn't peak Mario. I was 6 when he retired the first time. So, I think Jags would be mine. And Polamalu. What a freak athlete that guy is. Baseball...I don't think I can fit anyone into that "best ever" yet. McCutchen is amazing, but...just not yet.

Never was a big Theo fan, but there's plenty of people who think his jersey should be hanging from the rafters. I always liked how he chastised his teammates for leaving the Flames for bigger paydays with other teams and then he ends up doing the same thing a few years later.

I have nothing against Roger, but TBH I was living overseas during probably 80% of his tenure here so I can't really count that.

There's an argument to be made for Vince, too.

Even the look on Vince's face yells "You really think I'm better than this big African motherfucker?!?!"

If it makes you feel any better, those paydays found homes in the pockets of NYC drug dealers. That's what I call money well spent!

Just like with the Maatta thing, I think many people have an incorrect definition of boarding, mostly based on how it's typically called. It's hitting a defenseless player in a vulnerable position into the boards. That's it. It doesn't have to be the usual arm extended cross check to the back of a player.
