I don't know what surprises me more after the first couple of weeks,

CBJ starting 0-6 and the last team to get a W

or

EDM giving up less than 3 goals a game while CGY is having trouble keeping their opponents to under 4

(there may be some early season sieves awarded)

We currently have a couple of sieves in Calgary, Dave . We also have a lack of work ethic.

I'd have to say CBJ - I don't think their inability to defend is a shock to anyone even if nobody expected them to be this inept, but they're getting beaten on average by as many goals as Edmonton has allowed on average.

I think Edmonton's getting lucky somewhat (see Daniel Sedin last night missing an open net by a jumbo jet) and a quick glance at their near-term schedule (Wings, Caps, Kings, Wild, Habs) gives one reason to believe they're likely to start getting lit up again.

I also think a coaching change would at least start to help the Jackets defensively, and they've gotta be close to pulling that trigger given how badly they've been outplayed.

I really feel like Treliving went to his boss and said "so, I have a modest offer for Hiller/Ramo and I think we should do it so we aren't creating any unnecessary headaches this season" only to be rebuffed by that lantern-faced dickhole because "WHEN I WAS IN CHARANNA WINNING GAMES AND BUILDING A PLAYOFF TEAM OUR PROBLEM WAS ALWAYS GOALEES GO TRADE FOR ANOTHER ONE AND NEVER INTERRUPT ME WHEN I'M WATCHING VIDEO OF THE 2007 PLAYOFFS AGAIN!"

It just doesn't make sense to me that a GM would do so much work to build and improve a breakout team then create a goalie controversy unlike any we've seen in decades. It defies all logic, much like that lantern-faced dickhole and his team-building philosophy.

(honest Q)

Is the team resting on their modest success from last season? :noidea:

Yes they are living off "the run", plus the ease with which this preseaon went has the entire team believing their press.

Oh, you were asking dash.

I think last year they were able to surprise teams because nobody was expecting the Flames to be very good. This year, the surprise is gone. Also, the goalies weren't great last year, they provided average goaltending. I have yet to see average goaltending this season from the Flames keepers.

Tks to both for the insights. Haven't seen the Flames yet this year. Any chance they would be interested in a slightly-used Bernier?

Considering they have one too many goalies as it is, I would think not.

Yeah, Calgary's off to a cold start this year, expecting more from this year for sure.

I never liked the Blues, so I expect them to win tonight to break the Hab's streak.

So, I finally get to watch some 3-on-3 OT for the first time this year. Wait, no I don't (PP extended from regulation).

Not complaining about the W, tho.

Power play in OT?

Must be nice.
