Dubinsky's deal was 4 years with a AAV of $4.2 million. He signed that after 2010-11 when he scored 54 points. Is Johansen being offered something similar? If he is, it's still too low. If he is being offered less, then he's right and it is indeed a slap in the face for a guy who just scored 63 points and was the best player on a playoff team.

The money is rumo(u)red to be 5.5 - 6m AAV. But he wants 4+ years and Jackets are only offering 3. They want him RFA at the end.

I don't think it's the money they are squabbling over.

Little high on the dollars for a third liner, maybe he's gonna get promoted. And the NTC/NMC tells me I know who is likely to wear the "C" very soon.

When did Cbus hire Mike Gillis?

So, in short, he wants out of Columbus when his RFA deal is up and Columbus wants to hold him hostage (for obvious reasons).

This is why the system is broken.

Was just brought to my attention that Johansen and Dubinsky have the same agent.

This is less and less a "let's sign this guy!" and more and more a "message". And I think (hope) Joey will sign soon.

That's...sort of a lot of money for Dubi. I definitely get the impression he's the captain very soon, but that's just a lot of money. These character guys are getting more and more in the past few years (Cally comes to mind too), and that's fine and dandy, but it throws off the market a bit. Regardless: he was important to the team, needed to be done.

Thank Dale Tallon. That idiot signed Dave Bolland to 5.5 and set the market.

YAY salary cap floor!

Since the Jackets have plenty of cap room, I am not worried too much about the dollars, but it is silly for him to make that much. It's better than when Bobby Holik got 10 mil, but still, that's where we are. Realistically, he's overpaid by about 800k - 1m. Not as ugly as the Orpik deal. And they had a little in the bank because they didn't have to retain any of Umberger's salary. If they can dump Boll without keeping any of it, this will look even better.

We should have a countdown to the next lockout ticker on the top of the board.

Yeah, it was definitely him who started the whole "signing 3rd-line plugs to $5m+ contracts" thing. Thank god it didn't start last summer, or a certain Devils player wasn't involved.

David Clarkson just fell.

Joffrey Lupul reads about David Clarkson falling, cuts achilles when dropping newspaper on floor laughing. 6-8 months.

If they can dump Boll, my faith in Scuderi being moved goes up.

After rookie camp, some are saying the lineup could very well look like this:

Horton - Johansen - Jenner
Hartnell - Dubinsky - Anisimov
Foligno - Wennberg - Atkinson
Calvert - Letestu - Tropp

Boll/Rychel/Bjorkstrand/Hjalmarsson/Gibbons all with a chance to fill in somewhere. And Jenner and Anisimov can also play center.

I like the way that looks. Except that Boll is still there.

I think he can afford to redo that kitchen. Those cabinets and sink are pretty brutal. (That is a great picture though)

re-do the kitchen ? That place looks as small as my divorce apartment from 15 years back. With the cheques this boy cashes he could maybe channel George Jefferson and "move on up" a bit:wtf2:
