Didn't Holzer sign with another team?
Ducks. To put them over the top.Didn't Holzer sign with another team?
I did just read that the Pens lease the arena, so maybe there is something they're interested in.
Anyway, the Isles sold for $485 million last year and they play in fucking New York. I can't see the Pens selling for a heck of a lot more than that.

With concrete plans to move to a brand new arena in a city with 9 million people as opposed to Pittsburgh's 300,000.Not to mention Pens have a brand new arena and the Islanders at the time were playing in a 40 year old dump.

I agree they shouldn't sell for a whole lot more, but the Franchise is more valuable than NYI. Merch sales, TV contracts/ratings, french fry sandwich concessions... Big money.

..? Barclays Centre was open years before the Isles announced they were moving there and sold the team.Having an arena that is already built versus having a non existent arena that the owners will likely have to help pay for are not the same thing. If new ownership has to shell out money for a new arena that probably factored into a discounted price and would help explain the discrepancy.

Maybe it works out at Barclays, maybe it doesn't. I doubt it affected the sale price too much - that's like saying the fact that Crosby and Malkin will probably be retired in a decade should affect the sale price of the Pens.Barclays will be temporary. It was built for basketball so the sight lines are all screwed up, the capacity is significantly smaller than most arenas and it's more difficult for the fans on Long Island to get to there. It's likely why the Islanders have an opt out clause with their Barclays lease.
My guess is Franson winds up on a 1 year deal like Ehrhoff last summer. A few good months in Toronto isn't going to convince any GM's right now to go long on you.
About all I can say is, if Franson thinks he is worth 6 mil per, I can see why Oduya balked at a mere 5 mil.
