See: Sundin, Gilmour, Clark, Sittler, Keon, Teeder, Armstrong...

:L

Left off Rick Vaive :thumb:

But I agree, Gilmour was a pretty good captain, as this picture from his Wikipedia page implies.

And with the exception of Armstrong, there are an equal number of guys with cups in Toronto as Foligno has in Columbus.

For now.

Dave Keon never won a Cup? Or Gilmour, for that matter?

Ray Bourque never won a Cup as captain. Guess Foligno's on his level too, huh?

Philadelphia Flyers @NHLFlyers
Breaking: The #Flyers have signed free agent defenseman Yevgeni Medvedev

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6-3, 187 lb free-agent defenseman Yevgeni Medvedev, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Medvedev, 32 (8/27/1982), is a native of Chelyabinsk, Russia. He comes to North America for the first time after a long professional career in his home country. He has played in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) since its inception in 2008 and spent three seasons prior to that playing in the KHL’s predecessor, the Russian Elite League.

So, Keon never won any Cups in Toronto. Gotcha.

How many of those great Leaf teams of the 70's did he captain to cups?

You're so cute when you selectively read and get all snippy.

Nice touch, editing your post too.

You're cuter when you change what your dumb joke is every comment. First it was "fans have never seen a real captain." Funny, because two of mine from the past 20 years are in the Hall of Fame. As are 4 of the 5 others.

Then it was "same number of Cups", without mentioning "as captain".

But sure.

Likewise.

I changed my mind on the obvious argument, but then your response opened the door to the "changing stories" dynamic.

That Sundin, Gilmour or Clark weren't "real" captains, and Leaf fans haven't seen any? Or that they were bad captains because they didn't win Cups?

That's like saying Columbus isn't a "real" hockey town. The only difference is, there are actually people who believe the latter.
