Maybe a fringe top line guy but Patrick Sharp will likely be available.

He's having a good enough playoff, but he's pushing 35 years old and his in-season production was hit hard this year. Doesn't make much sense from Washington's perspective.

Yeah, considering he's not exactly a young guy anymore (NHL age), that's a tough one to swallow. Somebody will likely bite in free agency though.

We don't usually break our 5 year maximum contract length for guys pushing 35, but you speshullll.

If someone gives Joel Ward $4.5 mil/yr the inmates will have officially taken over the asylum.

He makes $3 mil/yr right now. It's not that much of a stretch to think he'll get that much given he's been just about a 20 goal scorer the past 2 seasons (24 in 13-14 and 19 this past year) and is pretty damn clutch.

Edit: not saying he's worth it, but he's going to get it.

I figure the Bolland contract was enough to scare teams away from overpaying for the "clutch" player.
