I think they feel they have a deep enough prospect pool and draft picks to make this deal even though it does look like an overpayment (at least in my opinion).

Guess they're thinking pair up McDavid/Eichel with Kane and they can squeeze 30+ goals a year out of Kane. This isn't as bad for Buffalo as everybody seems to believe. Kane's talented as shit, I just don't know how his attitude is going to improve by being traded to a shittier team in as undesirable a location.

i see some people saying Kane had Winnipeg over a barrel but caman ... other teams were salivating to get him ... obvious high demand from other teams even though all the stories about his off-ice stuff are out there

That is crazy. I had no idea this could happen. I thought when Kane went on IR this basically finished any trade potential until off-season. There goes that pipedream
