I'm surprised the Habs are trading Josh Gorges to the Leafs, you would think a lot of other teams would be interested, but I guess the Habs think the Leafs have the best offer

Mats Zuccarello said today that he wants the Rangers to remain competitive so he won’t “push” his salary to the maximum and it’s more important to him to be locked up in a long-term deal. (Nettavisen)

You don't get this deal? It's much easier to understand when you account for the fact that this management team is full of idiots.

Only reasonable logic i've seen is that he would complement Celine the way he did Subban, and that since Montreal gave Markov a sizeable extension and will be giving Subban one as well, not to mention Eller this year and Galchenyuk/Gallagher next, they need the cap space.

Like you said above, though, Gorges will be 30 by the start of next season and signed for 4 more years.

Love Volchenkov, he'll be a solid addition to whatever team wants him. Teams like Tampa, Florida and Edmonton should be blowing up his agent's phone. Devils just have a logjam on D and a lot of young guys that need to get in the lineup everyday.

Love Volchenkov, he'll be a solid addition to whatever team wants him. Teams like Tampa, Florida and Edmonton should be blowing up his agent's phone. Devils just have a logjam on D and a lot of young guys that need to get in the lineup everyday.

Jackets have a wealth of D, but no real shot eating shut down guy. Nikitin was the closest we had but he missed assignments a little too often, especially in the playoffs. Volchenkov doesn't do that.

I'd hesitate to add D to this team, but he is one guy I'd take any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Gorges rejects trade to Toronto. Chance now that he'll be placed on waivers. Toronto, having bought out Gleason, is almost certainly in the market to blow a wad of cash on a defenceman who will become a lightning rod of blame and wasted money and either be bought out or traded for scrap metal.
