That seems like a lot of money for a guy who looks like he has regressed quite a bit in the past two years. Ottawa might've been better off waiting a couple months into the season to see if he was ever going to beat the numbers of a few years ago...

I agree that it does seem high, but keep in mind that he was apparently dealing with the sports hernia since November of last year. He was still on a nearly 60 point pace despite supposedly being hurt the whole time.

Ottawa is a team that has to overpay at this point too. They've earned such a reputation and they're not regarded as a competetioin, so they only way they're going to attract/keep UFAs is by opening the wallet a bit.

I wouldn't have blamed Ottawa for playing hardball given the questions about him, but they have to show the fans something. It's been a rather steady decline and some of the Sens fans I know are very uneasy about it. Overpaying for Ryan is not as risky as some of the other recent crazy overpayments of other teams. He has the skill, no question about that. If his issues were only injury related, it looks a lot better.

Happy to report that the Isles have signed 2014 5th overall pick Michael Dal Colle to a 3 year ELC!!

Be nice if we could see the guy in a preseason game. He may be a year or two away from making the team outright. That is...if they can finally dump Bailey.

Good/Bad news for dash. The sim has the Flames winning the McDavid Sweeps.

Could you imagine Monahan, Bennett, and McDavid down the middle? Then all we would need would be a couple of those Pittsburgh lampposts and we'd really be in business.
