Another Olympics and one more kick at the can?

Good for him. I've warmed up to the meatball. Murray has catered the team the right way, and they have the right coach.

I've always liked him as a player, but there were times when the Sens underachieved and they has a killer team and he didn't show a lot of outward signs of taking the team by the throat like a captain should, IMO.

With the talent that they had, they should have had a few runs at the cup. But the just fell short and no one pushed them. That's not all on the captain, but he was the front line.

same could be said for Naslund. Moreso for Naslund as he had a better team around him for longer, but it just shows you what planets need to align to get all the way. Dont take this the wrong way as I say it to myself as well. We have the tendency to think it should be so easy to get to the finals and win it all with talent alone. There are so many factors that come into play now. Should these teams have done better ... yep 100% but there is rarely one person on those teams that shoulders most of the blame.. team game

I get that, but there are documented cases of Captains pushing those stars to align a little faster or knocking them back into line when they drift.

Not blaming him for them not winning, just questioning how far he pushed them as their leader. Often he looked lost on the bench. Staring ahead when the wheels were coming off the wagon.

Kinda like Bylsma behind the Pens bench. He just had no answer and didn't outwardly appear to be even trying to show composure. He looked like a deer in the headlights.

That deer in the headlights will be coaching the US Olympic team in Sochi.

USA Hockey is putting the band back together for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia, although the members will have a different place on the stage.

According to two people with knowledge of the decision, the Nashville Predators' David Poile will be the team's general manager, while Pittsburgh Penguins Ray Shero will be his associate general manager and Anaheim Ducks consultant Brian Burke will be the director of player development.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma has been selected to be the USA's coach in Sochi.

The two people asked not to be identified because the official announcement will come Saturday in New York, the day before the NHL draft in Newark.

He'll be great in the Olympics. Bigger ice, has a real goalie, and there's no "series" against teams.

Tortorella would have been ideal as u.s. head coach (he'll be an asst.)

Motivational, inspirational, a tactician ... Plus its a 2 week tournament so no one has to worry about the players tuning him out after week 3 as has happened on the nhl teams hes coached :noidea:
