Mets pitcher is batting 8th today. Just experimenting or is that something the Mets will do this year? (ya i'm watchin spring training baseball over NCAA hoops, so sue me)

Experimenting it. Collins is thinking of doing it to give Wright and Grandy more RBI opportunities.

Love it, love it when this team fights back. Last year Collins had this team playing well in the 2nd half, they played hard all throughout the season! That's one of the biggest things I like about him!

The Mets are playing some really good baseball the last week or so.

Kyle Farnsworth has decided to exercise the out in his contract after being informed by the team that he will not make the Opening Day roster, his agent said (ESPN NY, Mar. 23).

The Mets signed Farnsworth, 37, to a minor-league deal this past off season.

I like Valverde in the pen anyways.

The Mets will need to pay Daisuke Matsuzaka $100,000 on Tuesday at noon to retain him if they do not guarantee him a spot on the Opening Day roster (Rubin (ESPN) Mar. 24).
He is competing for the final spot in the starting rotation with Jenrry Mejia, who pitched five innings and held the Nationals to just one run, while striking out five batters, Sunday. Matsuzaka starts against the Cardinals on Monday.

Dice-K, Lannan, Mejian all still battling for the 5th spot

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (3/24) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed one run over six innings in his bid to become the Mets' fifth starter, helping New York beat the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 Monday.
Competing with Jenrry Mejia, Dice-K allowed three runs and three walks, striking out five. Matsuzaka hit Stephen Piscotty on the back of the helmet with a changeup opening the seventh and was replaced by Vic Black.
Daniel Murphy went 2 for 3, including a two-run double in the third off Shelby Miller.Miller gave up three runs and three hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked three.
