He is committed to one more year in Sweden. That was one of the reasons for his drop.

Sadly, they have the money to get it done. Assuming Poti is going no LTIR again, they have $23.7 million of cap room with the roster below already signed.

So, let's assume they use about $4 million on Beagle, Perreault and two other 4th line/reserve guys (4 guys at on average $1 million each). That leaves about $20 million to sign Carlson, Green, and Semin (or a replacement for their position). I'd anticipate you could sign those three for about $15-16 million combined, so they have more than enough to get it done.

My gut says GMGM wants to bring Semin back and give it one more shot with the "young guns." But he doesn't want to commit to him for more than a year or two and Semin is looking for a 5-6 year deal.

All that I have heard involves him being gone for good. That other money is likely going to be used on extending some guys a year early and bringing ina a top 6 winger no named Semin.

BTW, if the amnesty clause gets through the CBA, all playoff love aside, I would use it on the insane Ward contract.
