any canadians on here this late? basic curling rules please? everyone on the team shoot the stones? how many ends?

10 ends, can go into overtime (extra ends)
4 guys per team, each throws 2 rocks. teams alternate throws of course.
at the end of each end, whichever team has the rock closest to the middle gets a point.
if you have 2 or 3 closer than their nearest one, that's how many points you get.

also, ouch

And sometimes it's good to take no points. If you have the hammer, and have an option for none or one, taking none and keeping the hammer is a good move.

The Russian women tried it today, but Canada controlled that match so much they never got a chance to use it.

"hammer", of course means you have the last throw.

Another Yank came down and bounced Hudec and Miller to bronze.

Second Olympics in a row that Weibrecht has come out of nowhere to win a super G medal. A little suspicious if you ask me

Anyway the ski team won't go home empty handed. Hudec just had to tie with Miller of course so he can get a medal too....funny how we never get breaks like that, always American athletes :dhd:

Tough end to an Olympic career for Erik Guay. Close in Vancouver 2010, but just never had that clutch effort in him...
Morgan Pridy will be the future

Depending on who you ask, he or Guay were actually picked to medal in this so not a total surprise. Damn Yanks just had to get two medals....grrrr

Good news for our women's snowboard crossers. Both Maelle Ricker(fractured forearm) and Dominique Maltais(knee) came into Sochi injured but looked great in qualifying. sit 3rd and 4th for now

Huh...seriously?

Yes, must be because we have always been so beloved in Russia.

There's another medal, Maltais takes silver in womens snowboard cross. Ricker crashed out in the quarters sadly.

Rough break for Ricker but Maltais comes through with silver! Woohoo! Meanwhile Jacobellis crashes in a race she was comfortably leading... sounds familiar....

That Samkova chick was untouchable.

In both cases it was just a misjudged air that got them. Have to feel for both of them coming back from bad injuries, most likely in their last Olympics
