who will we look back upon in 5 or more years and say wtf ... hamhuis ... smith ... jeff carter?

I have always thought that after the World Cup loss the Nagano team was put together as an attempted best answer to the question "how do you build a team to beat the USA?". But then they found out that winning the gold medal was about more than just that. Plus obviously Hasek was phenomenal.

While in a hockey sense, this is very true I cannot condone the statement.

Let me set the scene; Me and one other guy, same age as me but has lived in Columbus his whole life. Lifelong hockey fan. Jackets fan. We share a lab space. We have two cubes in a windowless room, and on the wall we have a 47" "Monitor" that we have displaying IT system health messages. Today, that became the TV as I plugged my laptop into it and I cranked my laptop speakers up.

The whole time during the game, every time Jeff Carter touched the puck or was mentioned, or shown on the screen he stated, simply, "fuck Jeff Carter". He was on a conference call at one point in the third and as was saying something, I heard the "mute beep" and "fuck Jeff Carter" and then the unmute beep and he kept on. It was a good day.

I was surprised by Carter making the team. Guys like Kunitz and Sharp making team Canada doesn't surprise me, though as Toews and Crosby both need their caddies, and with the season both are having in 13-14, it's hard to deny their familiarity and experience they have can help team Canada repeat. I do agree that G should have been on this team, though and I think his spot was taken by Carter.

As a outsider looking in.. Canada has a ton of others who have a legit gripe to be in Sochi right now just as reasonable as Giroux's.

as for Hamhuis. He was pretty damn good for the Canucks in 2011 hopefully if he regains that form it will work great but I dont think he sees any ice.

This is one guy I hope has a big tourney, maybe it's because he's a Flames killer, but he impresses the heck out of me everytime I watch him play.

I think it's on international play, and seeing as a lot of that occurs without premium NHL talent, it's not surprising.
