Leaving the Cavs was about chasing rings and finding stability.
He found both.
If he leaves Miami, then he will always be defined as just a ring chaser.
If his chooses that route and wins more rings, good for him.
If it backfires though, his place in history will take a significant hit.

AI and Melo are very similar, they are both scorers and that's pretty much it. AI got assists, but he was more of a SG than a true PG. He liked to chuck up the rock and he wasn't in his prime, he was a little past it at 32 or 33.

AI was 31 when he was traded and averaging over 31 per game with 7 assists. He did not start declining until after he had been in Denver 2 years, then he fell off a cliff.

The guy wants the max deal and still wants to be surrounded by 5 or 6 All Star caliber players

Either way Miami been targeting a lot of quality role players. I've heard Vince Carter, Marvin Williams, Anthony Morrow, Trevor Booker, Kris Humphries, Nelson, and obviously Gasol

Obviously they can't get all of them but if they get can 2-3 of them, Pat did his job by improving the supporting cast.

Morrow & Williams likely looking at MLE money. There is no way they could sign either of those guys along with Gasol.

Nelson is an upgrade over Chalmers/Cole and he is actually truly a PG which cannot be said about Chalmers

Carter is a huge upgrade over Shane Battier. If he played on the Heat last year, he would've been our best 3 point shooter.

Trevor Booker is a role player but I think he is better than Udonis Haslem for sure.

Not if he goes back to Cleveland, that will for something more. To win his HOMETOWN team a championship. That is the only team I see him going to other than Miami anyway.

Yeah they got him for cheap. He got underpaid for sure when you see what Meeks, Bradley, and others got but he's on a championship contender so it is all worth it

In premise nice theory, but it's not the reality.
Where he plays will be because he feels it's his best chance to win.
He would never choose Cleveland for the city, he would choose it for the roster of players on the Cavs.
Great story if he ever did win there, but don't confuse the would be nice story as his priority.
