Whoever is designing these needs to stop. The thoughts are good, but the execution is terrible. If the stone was say on the inside of the VT logo on a maroon or white helmet, that may be cool, but this stuff is ridiculous. A helmet that looks like a brick wall? I literally would struggle to think of something more stupid/less exciting. Maybe a pile of garbage cans?

About Boyd, I don't follow recruiting heavily but even a casual follower know his recollection has quite a bit of fact skewing. What I remember of it was Boyd was a highly touted recruit and VT was strongly interested, but Boyd himself showed little interest. In fact, he (and/or his handlers) had a bit of a diva complex, and strung along several schools. I know he had at least one decommit (Tenn) and I think he may have had one more before he finally ended up at Clemson. Long story short, Boyd gave word to a lot of schools, broke it, seemed wishy washy, and VT just moved on because you could never get a straight answer out of him. Not that I'm mad, its worked out ok for both parties. But this just seems like some revisionist stuff to make it look like Boyd had to overcome circumstances that he didn't expect. Like he's saying "VT didn't want me. Lots of schools didn't. Clemson gave me a chance and look at me now!"

If I recall, VT showed him PLENTY of love (along with Kevin Newsome) during the earlier stages of his recruitment. I also remember (correct me if I am mistaken) that Momma/Papa Boyd moved the entire family down there to SC after his commitment/enrollment. Talk about wanting your kid to stay on the titties.

What ever happened to his brother, was it TJ Boyd or something like that? He was a pretty good HS fball player too.

The Hokie Stone helmets are a go for Thursday. Looks like they're going to add a logo at least, but they won't be fully reviled until Thurs.

I still think they'll look pretty good with a solid maroon VT logo on the side paired with maroon jerseys and pants to match the helmet. Not stone patterned pants, but similar shade wise.

Well, I just turned the channel to CFB Daily on ESPNU....and two of the talking heads named VT/Beamer the most disappointing in college football. Hopefully, we've seen the worst of it. BTW, wonder what these guys think of UVA then?

We were 7-6 last year. We started this season 3-1, which is exactly what anyone would have guessed. I don't know what the fuck they are talking about.

I agree. Put a maroon VT logo on it and it will look pretty cool.
