I have to wonder why this gets more attention than the Cleveland Indians Chief Wahoo. Is it because the Redskins are the team nearest the Capital? Or is football just the more popular sport.

Like everything in life I'm sure it comes down to money.

I have no doubt there are those who genuinely feel the word Redskins is a slur.

However, I believe Ray Halbritter, the person leading this fight on the name change, is involved for reasons other then a disparaging nickname.

We had plenty of clowns like you over at ESPN & the place was completely out of control & became pretty useless after a while. Just trying to avoid that mess.

I dont think people do that. I think people are legitimately hurt. I just cant see one reason why anyone would make up a fake problem.

The word wasnt made up by their ancestors. It was made up by peple who stole their land and murdered their people. Maybe thats why some of them were offended. What is LA got a new football team and they were named the LA Blackskins.

Example...why can black people use a certain "n word" but white people can't? If the word is offensive, then the word is offensive regardless of who uses it. If it's only offensive in context then anybody can use it as long as they don't mean for it to be offensive.

Why cant I come up to your wife and say, "Man, you have a sweet tits and an awesome ass.". Why do you get to say it and I cant? Many black people are offended with these kids using the N word but why do you care you cant say it. I have ZERO problem understanding that I cant say that to your wife, but you can.... just as I have no problem not saying the N word while other people can.

That being said, I don't think the name should be changed. I have researched this and am not just offering some uneducated, ignorant opinion. PC only means that you are open to understanding other peoples feeling and working to become a better person and not offending them or hurting them. Bob Costas was completely fair and brought up several reasons why the Redskins shouldnt cange their name. He handled it professionally and stated both sides of the issue fairly. Then he concluded it with his personal opinion. Nothing dirtbaggish or douchey about the way he handled it.

Pretty unique skill that you believe that you possess. Apparently you can tell the race of people on an anonymous message board & by reading similar comments on the web. More likely you are just assuming things.

Maybe I look at things outside of message boards. I dont see any minorities on TV or radio blasting PC. When I interact with people I never hear people complaining about being PC, except white males.


I also think that your comments are an insult to people of other races who also take issue with what you label being "PC". Scan the web or look at youtube - you will find these opinions from plenty of folks who are not white males (you might even find that on this forum).

Im sure there are a few but 99% of the time you see or hear someone bitching about PC its a white male. Usually ding bats like Rush Limbaugh. I have stated my problem with this specific issue several times in this thread. I don't mind people protesting the name & would not get that bent out of shape if it was changed. However - I do take issue with people in the media who all of sudden care so much about it (in spite of numerous surveys & quotes from Native Americans who say it does not bother them). IMO - these folks are just making an issue of this to bring attention to themselves.

oh, and btw, I think very highly of Kirk Cousins, follow his progress and wish him continued success in the NFL - against any team not named the Falcons...agree with those who believe a trade to Houston (or elsewhere) is a move that should be carefully considered.
