The first "five years," of shouting "GO CLOUDS!" is going to be brutal though.

I think it would look better if they make it one word ... REDCLOUDS. This idea is even better considering Mike Wise would not like .. he wants all NA imagery dropped.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnSndTnCbU4]Jim Florentine gives his opinion on the Washington Redskins name change controversy - YouTube[/ame]

This audio is the best response that I have heard yet on this debate. As Jim Florentine stated if all of these reporters have an issue with the name - fine - don't stop there - give up your house & land since somebody stole it from the Native Americans years ago. If you don't like the name simply don't buy the product & don't accept freebies from the Skins (I somehow think hypocrites like Christine Brennan will still go to the games if it is free). Also - reporters using terms like "The R-word" team are complete idiots!

Florentine is the best & speaks the truth.

I wonder if Wise would still back this issue if part of this involved him never being allowed to use his name in connection with all of this. It has been stated time & time & time again that - by far - most Native Americans don't take issue with the name. Yet - they drag out some obscure person with 10% Native American blood & make it an issue. Now all of a sudden the entire Liberal Media (a term I don't like using but is appropriate in this case) makes this out to be the biggest issue on the planet. What a joke.

Why was this not an issue 10 years ago? 15 years ago? Ridiculous. Listen to Florentine's reply - it says it all.

I really dont care one way or the other. But what I have noticed is the only people in our society that hate being "PC" are white males. Sort of like, "What do you mean I can't say racist shit anymore". I dont mind being PC. If someone says to me, "Hey, you saying that word hurts my feeling and I take it as an insult" I would say in return, "Im really sorry that I hurt or offended you." But it seems like most people cant do that. I want to say whatever the hell I want and I could care less if it insults you or hurts your feelings. I understand both sides of the "Redskins" name issue. I just dont understand why white males have such difficult understanding that we can say things that offend people and shut the door on taking any responsibility in being a better human.

What you just posted offended me. Not because I'm a white male, but because I just wasted 10 seconds of my life reading this gibberish.

Because people look for a reason to be offended or are hypocritical with regard to word usage.

Example...why would people be offended by a word their ancestors created, especially when it's not used in a manner meant to be offensive?

Example...why can black people use a certain "n word" but white people can't? If the word is offensive, then the word is offensive regardless of who uses it. If it's only offensive in context then anybody can use it as long as they don't mean for it to be offensive.

I'm offended by the word "native American." It makes me feel like the Indians actually think they have a claim to this land that I don't. Do I get bent out of shape...Hell NO.

Pretty unique skill that you believe that you possess. Apparently you can tell the race of people on an anonymous message board & by reading similar comments on the web. More likely you are just assuming things. I also think that your comments are an insult to people of other races who also take issue with what you label being "PC". Scan the web or look at youtube - you will find these opinions from plenty of folks who are not white males (you might even find that on this forum).

I have stated my problem with this specific issue several times in this thread. I don't mind people protesting the name & would not get that bent out of shape if it was changed. However - I do take issue with people in the media who all of sudden care so much about it (in spite of numerous surveys & quotes from Native Americans who say it does not bother them). IMO - these folks are just making an issue of this to bring attention to themselves.

Oh well - what do I know? I apparently don't possess the same talents as someone like yourself.

~ The San Antonio Wetbacks will change to the San Antonio Illegals.
~ The South Dakota Dirty Stinking Drunken Indians will change to the South Dakota Redskins.

12h Virginia tribes with unusual reaction to 'Redskins' name controversy http://link.wtvr.com/GYd83I via @cbs6

Good article. Kind of refutes that whole "if just one person has a problem with it" argument used by certain members of the media. Apparently - that only applies when it supports their cause. It is becoming increasingly obvious that this is an issue that really is being fought by non-Native Americans (the exception being the occasional token Native American being brought in to support someone's cause).

Some of these people have an incredible amt of nerve. The most recent being Bob Costas who has always been somewhat of a punk & believes that he is better than everyone else. Whatever - they can do whatever they like - just go away already.

That's the problem I have with this whole so called controversy. Guys like Costas and Wise are bandwagon jumpers. Where were they 5 years ago or 10 years ago? Why didn't they raise the issue when the first got a stage?

I've always maintained that only the native american community can tell us if its offensive. If they are offended, then we need to change. So far, by every poll taken and by a wide margin, they have no issues with the name. Of course, according to Wise, they don't know enough to be offended....now if that's not an insult, I don't know what is.

Not every term of description is necessarily offensive.

when the 'name change' tsunamis ebb off, will some of you thin-skinned little girlie-boys go back to whining about uniform colors and design? swear to gawd, if there's anything more pathetic than slavering over Bob fucking Costas' twitters, it's showing the world you're a worthless little pussy by hitting the "thumbs down" button instead of addressing what irritates you directly.

how about adding something to the conversation other then a bunch of racist jokes. You want to post racist jokes, go do it on the general forums ... because that is not the point of this thread.

Being an Ass. I said Bob was right on the mark, but the truth is I don't care if the name is changed or not. I being an old white guy don't see the problem with "Redskins". I have to wonder why this gets more attention than the Cleveland Indians Chief Wahoo. Is it because the Redskins are the team nearest the Capital? Or is football just the more popular sport.

I have said before that even though I don't see the issue, as a Cowboys fan I would love it if they were forced to change the name. Only to see the ensuing uproar out of the fan base. I'm sure you all understand.

You've been nominated for the dumbest post of the year. I am a white male and quite literally, nothing that minorities call me, offends me.

That being said, I don't think the name should be changed. I have researched this and am not just offering some uneducated, ignorant opinion. I don't think it matters how much Snyder digs his heels in, though. Douchebag, PC dirtbags, like Bob Costas won't stop until the outcry is so great, Daniel will cave in. It's a matter of time.

Racism is the WHOLE POINT of this thread...

I have never met a Redskins fan who says the word "Redskins" with the intent to slur or disparage. The point of this thread is to debate the team name, not post your racist jokes, internet tuff guy.
