If the Oline is crap this coming season they will just fire their Oline coach again and throw them under the bus.
Miss the playoffs again it could be JS's job that comes to an end.

The OL isn't just a Seahawk issue (ok, it's been an achillis for them for quite a few years now) but it's more of a NFL problem... I don't think the talent at the OL position is keeping up with the talent at the DL position through HS, college and into the pro's... The league became a passing league well ahead of the OL keeping up at the same pace/trend... Just seems like a lot of teams struggle w/ their OL more than we've seen in years past... There tends to only be a handful of teams these days that have really dialed in there OL...

Saying all that because it's obviously the toughest position to put together with all 5 players upfront... Sad that it's been this way but it's not going to be fixed over night... Just looking at the 3 we're bringing in outside of Jenkins for a visit... They're not ranked that high for an OG at their position... They would be fine if we were putting them besides all pro talent already at 2 of the 5 positions but that's definitely not the case...

Can't keep filling holes with journeyman players if they aren't surrounded by great talent around them on the OL... We don't have that yet... Cross is close but the RT position is still up the air... Outside of LT, we aren't looking that good anywhere else..

That's why it's important that we are effective at coaching up our young guys and drafting well at that position... If we miss again this year in the draft, it won't get fixed...

Agreed. Seattle is not the only team with a bad OLINE or sub par OLINE. I'd say more than half the league has that problem. And if you could just go big in free agency and sign everyone, well then everyone would do it. Minny gave out almost $14M to a guard coming off an injury that came out of nowhere and didn't even medically examine him, lol.

As with most positions, gotta draft and coach well. And no offensive line was protecting Geno or pretty much any QB last year with Grubb's dumbass College system.

yeah once the college game went to the spread offense the oline blocking has went to sheet. Its now all about " My guy is better than your guy" not " My scheme is better than your scheme".

I think that dead on. When teams needs are listed OL is almost always listed. Seeing half a dozen teams chasing Fries based on a few games he played last season and then the contract he got sort highlights how desperate the situation is in the NFL. Don't feel those who annually put out draft rankings and mocks have caught up with the sheer need in the NFL for OL. The other day seen 3 mocks and on two of them they had the Seahawks taking a TE (for God sakes) and one a safety. Obviously they don't get how bad the Seahawks (and other NFL teams ) need OL. The demand far out paces the need for OL who matter.

Nwosu has accepted a $7 million pay cut for the 2025 season, per Brian Nemhauser on X. In return he will get $6.98 million in guaranteed money and a $4 million signing bonus.

It results in about $9M Cap savings... which I figured was going to happen because with Darnold taking up $37.5M (at least based on reports) of the NOW (after Nwosu) $70M cap.... I was wondering how the fuck we're fitting MVS, D Law, Kupp, rookies, injuries, etc. in with $33M. I know you have to cut guys which prob. gets you another $10M back... but we're running out of room.

Either way, it's an A+ restructure. He plays this year at a reduced cap, and if he sucks or can't stay healthy, we simply let him walk next year at a $8.5M dead cap, not a big deal.

That said, with available cap, sounds like no other OL this year... address it in the draft or sign some potato guy to a 1 year $5M thing. Have to wonder if Fant is next. I wouldn't be opposed to extending Fant... the fact we can flat out cut him for $9M more savings but haven't done so, makes me think he's next on the list.

Last couple years were a bummer for him. Got the cheap shot hit in preseason then just couldn't really over come it leading to a 2nd injury. If he returns to his 2022 form we have another stud out there.

Agreed. I hope it works out. He got defensive player of the week I think his first year in Seattle? I am hoping and praying for Nwosu to stay healthy, but fact of the matter is, he doesn't have a great track record (even LAC there was some stuff)... end of day gotta protect your cap room and ability to move on, which is exactly what Seattle did.

Naturally I hope Nwosu gets back to form and stays that way.

He missed 3 game for the Chargers in 2020, that was the only games he missed in 4 years there. His first year hear he played all 17 games then had the bad injury that he was still working on when he got the cheap shot on him. Throwing a tag on someone like you are doing when they proved before they were not a injury prone player is just bad Karma.

If Membou or Banks is there at 18 and we don't pull the trigger I'm gonna lose it...

Strong rumors of Hawks taking S, WR or TE at 18. They were saying 18 is to soon for JS to draft a IOL and JS also believes that it is to soon. It does fit his MO though as he doesn't place IOL in high regards.

Yeah all those draft geeks fall in love with players and hardly EVER a OL player and NEVER a IOL. Whats funny when talking about the team they all agree the OL needs to be fixed but when they do mocks they have the Seahawks picking some joker TE like Loveland who is basically a WR who can't block at all, makes my blood boil.

I seen a bunch of mocks Seattle taking Banks or other OL guys. My fear is JS will go his usual way and his OL pick won't be till the 4th round or later and that'll piss me off.

I have seen tons of Mocks with the Hawks drafting Oline but like many talking heads say "that goes against everything JS believes about IOL."

He might not draft IOL at #18 and that doesnt bother me one bit but he better use a least a couple of his top 5 picks on some Olineman. No need to "OVERDRAFT" a position like they all ready do at QB from college when the talent level coming out of collage is so low now when talking about Olineman. We need NFL Europe to come back and get these kids more REAL coaching.
