I have seen tons of Mocks with the Hawks drafting Oline but like many talking heads say "that goes against everything JS believes about IOL."

He might not draft IOL at #18 and that doesnt bother me one bit but he better use a least a couple of his top 5 picks on some Olineman. No need to "OVERDRAFT" a position like they all ready do at QB from college when the talent level coming out of collage is so low now when talking about Olineman. We need NFL Europe to come back and get these kids more REAL coaching.
The talk about overdrafting a position, centers around what the group think is at the moment, the "group" being everyone who lays out an opinion on positional value in regard to the NFL (So GMs, talking heads, you tube draft geek and of course passionate fans). The actual value really depends on supply and demand of said position. If there was an over supply of good QBs their value goes down (course that never seems to be the case). Group think is usually behind the curve on things like positional value, as they spout the usual things folks say until they get slapped in the face with the reality, hard. Seems to me their is a supply issue with IOL which raises their value but group think hasn't caught up.....yet. Seahawks take Zabel at pick 18 and I'll be full of joy and who cares if some folks sagely shake their heads and exclaim it's a over pay. The offense can't function well without the OL doing their part and doing it well. Coaching helps, but talent matters and the talent at IOL that can actually have a noticeable impact is small in numbers and won't be there when the Seahawks pick in round 2 or later, barring finding a gem in the rough (which is a long shot).

There are dozens and dozens mocks out there and yes some have the Seahawks taking a IOL most verve off the path because they think so and so is just SO GOOD you got to take him (this after saying there are only 3 blue chippers in this draft). For me it's IOL or bust with pick 18.

Guard Tyler Booker is the 48 best ranked player in this draft and thats not 1st round talent BUT he will be over drafted. Zabel is flying up the board but he is a tackle ( ranked 29th ), C Jared Wilson is the next IOL and he is ranked 83, now lets just make a list of the IOL in the top 200 best players in the draft.

Booker 48
Wilson 83
Ratledge 91
Lampkin 130
Kendra 151
McLaughlin 167
Colby 170
Cooper 172
Monheim 184
Fairchild 196

This are the "listed IOL" there isn't tackles on here that could slide into Guard/center. As you can see none grade out for a first round grade and yes value is set by need but taking a guy outside the 40 best players at 18 in the FIRST round is just stupid. I don't understand why people think this is a good Oline class its not, they wont be good till the "college game" changes. You could find some tackles but the guys that get dirty on the inside in the NFL and college ranks are SO very different now. The meat is between 80-200 and these are or should be 3rd round + guys.

Drafting a guy with a 2nd or 3rd round grade at 18 would piss me off i dont care WHO it is. I like the QB Dart but I would be upset if we spent the 18th pick on him. I could understand it but i wouldnt like it.

I have put it on record that i want them to draft at least 2 IOL with their first 5 picks because we need them but i am not holding my breath that they will be very good or even starters at first. College Olineman just are not what they were back in the 90's and early 2000's. The offensive change in college has made the change to playing in the pros very hard.

I feel someone will draft Dart round one, because of lack of supply. Steelers are trying to sign washed up Rodgers who will cost. Maybe 20 million, 25 million, maybe more. At this point would it make more sense to roll with Dart at pick 21 and save that money? Maybe.

Walter Footballs draft is interesting.. Tyler Warren at 18, Donovan Jackson (who I like) at 50, Monheim at 52, then Swinson (DE) and Ewers in the 3rd...

TE, 2 2nd round OL, DL, and a QB? Eh I could stomach it.

ESPN draft has us taking Matthew Golden, WR out of Texas... I'd be all over that... Dude runs a 4.2... We need some speed at the WR position...

I think John is just gonna go BPA at 18... and then try and address OL in maybe the 2nd or the mid rounds. Similar to the last two years all over again.

I gave up on figuring out what John is going to do because we all seem to always be way off...
