What is MJ thinking?

Maybe he thinks Courtney Lee will be too expensive?

I wanted to see the Kings make a run at Lee, so I like this trade 2-fold. We acquire a 1st rounder, and send a SG to Charlotte maybe to take Lee's place.

Because why would you guard KD with Blake Griffin? Or Towns or Aldridge, or Love, etc, etc,.

Because a taller/bigger body has a better chance at disrupting his shot than a guy he wouldn't have to jump to shoot over?

That's assuming KD is simply a jump shooter, which he is not. He's elite at getting to the basket and drawing fouls. If you're the Spurs, why on earth would you want to have Leonard guard Draymond and Aldridge guard KD? Why would you want Kaminsky to guard KD and Batum guard Draymond? Why would you want Jeff Green to guard Draymond and Blake guard KD?

There is virtually no PF in the NBA, outside of Draymond, that has any shot of staying with KD on the perimeter. That's an absolute fact.

KD has always been a 3 in the NBA and always been guarded by smaller guys (KD is almost a legit 7 ft.). There's no right way to guard a guy like him. But if you put a PF on him, he'll absolutely murder them.

Saying KD is now going to punish small 3's is like saying he hasn't been doing it his whole career. That's why he's one of the best 3 players in the NBA. It's because he's virtually unguardable. Putting a slower PF on him, would let him just attack the basket every single play. And guess what, no one could rotate over to help because you have the two best shooters in the NBA on the wings.
