Here's a thought. Texas won't need a starter until April 8th. If they believe Lewis can start and be effective by then they could do this.

Go with a four man rotation of:
Darvish
Perez
Scheppers
Saunders

Put Hanson in the long man role to keep him for depth and carry an extra reliever. Have Colby pitch in an extended spring training game, or minor league game in the mean time. Ross goes to AAA to keep getting ready.

I like your thought pattern here. Little outta the box, which I enjoy. Now if Mr Darvish can cooperate with ya we'll all be in high cotton.

Someone asked about Font making the team yesterday. Has he pitched worth a crap in ST?

^^ Only appeared in 4 games (3.2 innings... ERA of 0.00). It was me that was asking about him.... though he is more than likely AAA bound.

Sortable Spring Training Stats

I don't want anyone to be distracted from this Ranger site. But did ya read the BS on Puig out in LA land? It's on ESPN's page and I'm so thankful we don't have this ass-wipe on our team. Million (plural) talent with a head full of cotton candy.

Would take Puig in a half a heartbeat. Wouldn't even get to the dub part of the lub dub. I would take him that quickly. You put up with that crap to have a player of his talent level. Same as I was willing to put up with Josh if he would produce.

I think you're right. But I don't see Hanson accepting a move to AAA with so many teams needing arms.

Good for him if he can land somewhere, and it wasn't a big gamble on our part to bring him in. Cost us almost nothing really.

Based on history I figure Hanson will get the long role until he craps it up enough that he gets released. To me he is just another Jason Jennings or Kris Benson kinda guy.

Or more recently, Derek Lowe. Man I couldn't stand Jennings or Benson though. Even at their best they were dumpster fires.

You may be right. But it's a shitty existence to live in that dugout with this ignorant man-child. He shows up +26 lbs, runs the bases like a duck on vacation, and his attitude sucks, generally speaking. He and Gonzalez apparently had a pretty good dust-up.

Honestly understand where you're coming from, and your Josh references are duly noted.

I think they can try and force the issue and have Colby's pitch count up by April 8th, but why force the issue? Seems foolish, if you have to force it, then don't, we have other options to get us by til then

The Rangers have had plenty of dumbshits on the bases. I would be used to that one.

Yeah it's cool if they are all friends and blah blah blah, but their job is to play baseball. If they get along fine, if not whatever. As long as they win.

:laugh3:....admittedly, got a laugh outta your basepath-dumbshits comment. He may fit rather nicely here in this regard.

Puig just seems like one of those guys who's always gonna be "more maintenance than needed" kind of players. And I'll grant ya, he's got some talent to change games for sure.

Anyone else read that Max Scherzer turned down an extension worth 24-25.7MM a year so he can test the open market? Boras must think he can net around 28 or something. He better put another year like last year then. All Boras clients end up in Texas eventually though right? haha It just feels that way... Scherzer rejects extension offer, tables extension talks with Tigers - MLB Daily Dish

I didn't see the financial numbers you're quoting here.

But man, if I'm a pitcher, and offered that much for...you tell me, what was the offer.?....I'd have to sign. Gzee, injuries, bad seasons happen. Take the generational life changing contract and work hard to make it a good deal for everyone.

They updated it a couple of times since I first read it this morning. The newest update says 6 years 144 MM. That's a chunk of change.

I have no clue what Max is thinking if that is the actual number. I don't know what else he is expecting to be honest.

Edit...Just read on bless you boys that he apparently wanted 7 years over 6. I think I would have been okay with 6/144. That's just me though.
