Somebody getting a little too serious about spring training.

Guys, it's friggin ST and maybe they want to see if he can get the lefties out. It's extermination time, and nothing more.

Really, we don't know very much about this guy - as for me nothing actually - but he could have had troubles with lefties last season and they're putting him in real game situations.

Pudge's personal mission is sculpting him into himself. The kid has all the raw materials there. If he takes two years to be ready, then I am all for it.

In all due respect to Pudge, why are you acting like having him providing tutelage to this kid is a God sent? Has Ivan ever coached anyone up in his life?

Rodriquez was a terrific (maybe better) catcher, fine hitter, and great gamer. But as far as I know, he's not known for coaching or even being an good adviser.

He's been on their ML roster for a few years. I'm sure they know what they have in him. That was my point. I just don't think with 2 outs in the ninth is the time to get him in to face 1 lefty. Oh well. No big deal.

FYI. He's been just as good against lefties as righties.

Not really.....I was just pointing something out is all.

I'm not taking anything too serious, especially ST.

Understood. No worries mate.

I was kind of thinking of Mr Ross and his struggles last season, and considered maybe they're taking one last glance to feel good about him and the situation.

Nothing more or less.

Jesus dude. He was a fantastic catcher. Why is it so crazy to think he could teach a young prosoect what he did that made him so great? Good damn son, we don't have to have everything chiseled in stone, just use common sense.

Last year he was better against lefties than his career #'s. They hit .212/.304 OBP last year. Who knows, maybe they have a good reason other than to send us to 1 more commercial break.

What's with your fucking "chill out bullshit?" I'm not exciting at all. Have you started dipping into the whiskey early this weekend? My question is valid.

I gave Pudge his due as a player. Loved him. BUT, he's never coached anyone has he? Help me out here instead of talking down for a pleasant change.

hahaha......After all we didn't necessarily buy a car today, and we certainly haven't consumes enough cold beverages yet.

Never rule out the power of advertising.

Any time I've studied something under somebody I've always wanted to study under the best. I want to learn what they know. Why is it so hard to consider he can teach Alfaro what made him a great catcher? Jesus bud, if the club didn't think he could do it they wouldn't have tasked him with the project. Everything doesn't have to be chiseled in stone. Just use some common sense.

I have no way of knowing if he is a good teacher, but I would think he'd be awesome at it. I'm sure the Rangers wouldn't have him in that role unless they felt confident as well.

Exactly. Why the need to be such a contrarian?

It's not common sense at all Romeo. Being a great player, and being a great coach are not synoymoiuos with one another. The coaching world in all of sports is littered with guys who couldn't play so great (see Phil Jackson) but got the best outta their teams.

I'm not saying Pudge can't. But he's never done it before. If I failed to make this point clear, sorry.

But you're acting like I've attacked IR and that's not true; or even close. I said "he's terrific (maybe better)" and you come back with fantastic. WTF is the argument here?

And I chiseled nothing in stone. I thought I was just having some friendly banter in hopes of having some positive feedback.

I didn't thing it came off wrong at all. Of all the former players, Pudge is someone I think would be great at teaching, but that's just my opinion. Pudge was very similar at his young age. Pudge relied on his cannon for an arm also.
