Okay, I like MSL, but that's an overpayment.
For the other Americans, NHL.com is streaming TSN's TradeCentre coverage live (which is nice since TSN.ca blocks us):
TradeCentre ?14 Video - NHL VideoCenter
and its on NHL Network also.
But who on the market that costs less has the playoff experience? A huge thing the Jackets are missing is guys who have been to the top of the mountain. They have one ring in the locker room. One. Marty wouldn't be brought in just for what he can provide on the ice. He would be brought in as a veteran voice and a sign to the players in the room that the organization is not joking around.
The other option out there, and it scares the shit out of me, is Tim Thomas.
As for on the ice, the style gap between what McIlhenny does and what Bob does is too big. The team has to adjust too far because McIlhenny has a tendency to overcommit and he is pretty weak on sharp angles. The D funnels the play outside because Bob is weaker down the middle. Marty is big and positionally sound. He would fit the Jackets D scheme far better than Tabasco, single stat line be damned.
I love MSL, always have, and I understand there's likely a lot more working parts. But the captain of a very good team demanding a trade and weakening his former team is just shitty.
at least it was glenn sather on the other end.. thats a bad trade for the rangers IMO

Traded away Cally demanding 6.M a season to block shots and total 30 points. We traded a 2015 first which will more than likely be late. A 2014 2nd I like but worth it for Marty. He's still, at 38 a point per game player and has more goals on the season than Cally does points. He's well conditioned to play at the very least, 3 more seasons. This helps us in the long run and now, way more than Cally does.
