I've said it before and I'll say it again... at the end of the season the difference between the Devils making the playoffs and missing is probably going to end up being all of the starts that they gave to Marty.

Possibly, but their offense has been so horrendous when Cory Schneider's been in net too

Told the Penguins, still in Kesler mix, are also looking at adding a defenseman. Sabres D Tallinder could be a possible target.

Possibly, but their offense has been so horrendous when Cory Schneider's been in net too

They've had pretty bad luck in shootouts too I believe (I haven't looked at the data in a while so correct me if they've turned that around). But at the end of the day a team that's giving 47% of its playing time to the goalie that's over half a goal per 60 worse is basically killing itself.

Curious which Flyers defenseman gets traded tomorrow - I think it's going to be Mesz but there was also something about Luke Schenn being a possibility as well - if you look at what the new pairings should be, here they would be:

A-Mac/Mark Streit
Kimmo Timonen/Braydon Coburn
Erik Gustafsson/Nicklas Grossmann

It leads me to believe that Luke Schenn might be moved because there's not a chance in hell that they're putting him with Nicklas Grossmann - and those top four guys are top four guys so you're not pairing them with anyone on the third pairing

This should be interesting tomorrow

Also hearing St Louis is expected to encourage the trade to NYR today. Not sure if that impacts Yzerman's decision.

actually.. just because those pairs have all played together in the past, successfully, and i dont think gus cracks the lineup over any of those guys.. coburn/grossmann acting as the shutdown pair, but a pretty even balance across all 3 pairs i think
