but seriously 43 ... you say the cap will be going up but cbj arent historically a perrenial spend to the cap team ... they usually have an internal budget that is below the cap ... that type of money to 2 goalies makes no moneypuck sense at all ... example, it restricted the canucks from getting the 2 top 6 forwards that they needed to remain a cup contender

I know. And if they are talking goalie with Carolina, I would much rather have Peters. Plus, as I said they are probably talking with Anaheim too.

Bottom line is they don't need Gaborik, and they are in horrible shape if Bob gets hurt again. Ward is expensive, but would fill the most glaring need - and if they get Gaborik's salary off the books, it is okay short term. Hurts at the end of next year, but maybe a team will get desperate at the deadline. If Bob wigs out and starts the KHL crap again, Ward is good insurance.

The owner of the team has seen what the building has been like the last few games and is giving JD a bit of a long leash. I think they will spend when it helps improve the team. And D consistency and backup goaltending are the holes right now. The D is shaping up, but McIlhenny is not.. He's just not.

The Jackets are not and will not be a cup contender for a long time. But they are a team that desperately needs to get into the playoffs and go a round or two to make up recent dollar shortfalls. Missing the ASG hurt bad. That can rectify itself next year too.

Getting Ward is not ideal for sure, but I won't be suicidal if it happens.

Anyone interested in Ville Leino?

I'd be willing to part with him for cheap. Real cheap. Like "we'll pay you to take him" cheap.

Anyone have any wingers they're willing to part with? Willing to part with particular young defensemen.

Seems like the goalie market is seller heavy. And that's just a tough position to move at the deadline, unless there are injuries on a contender.
