F the Houston Astros
This is going to be a bad series.
They have kicked our ass in almost every series since 06, and this Rangers team is playing like one of the worst Rangers teams over that span, at the moment
This is going to be a bad series.
Or on the mound at least in this series. I know Wandy has not pitched well lately but I felt like he has more stuff to battle these guys than Nick.Bacsik was going on and on yesterday about how much better the Rangers were on paper than the Rockies. Not sure what stats he was looking at, but as a far as their lineup. I don't buy that
This one is over in the 1st
If he can't ever get above 86 MPH on his pitches, he is unfit, I know we would be responsible for it all if we DFA him, its a sunk cost at this point regardless
Nothing dicey about it, he's not a ML pitcher anymore if he doesn't get some velocity back, its business and we've given him NUMEROUS opportunities to get it back, and he just doesn't
Hey Bennie, remember when I said Nick would regress, and hard? Call me fuckin' Nostradamus, eh? Guess the peripherals did tell the story. We sabremetric zealots don't know anything huh?
And how well I know that since I have family up there. Last year was an embarrassment. They have kicked our ass in almost every series since 06, and this Rangers team is playing like one of the worst Rangers teams over that span, at the moment
Four game losing streak to this team and we bring in Nick for this?
Evening Guys, why in the world did they bring Nick back up? Every time I saw him pitch (and I don't think I've missed a game yet), he has stunk it up.
And how well I know that since I have family up there. Last year was an embarrassment.
Did anyone argue that he wouldn't??? He can't finish off hitters and walks too many hitters
I just didn't think it was too profound of a statement considering you had been saying it about a month in advance and it hadn't happened yet... and when it did... big shock
Darryl, I have some faith in Chi Chi to grow and get better, I think Nick wont.I'd rather seen Chi Chi in this situation but I doubt there would be much different results.
It's not a sunk cost if Harrison admits he cant' compete and retires. Due to insurance, that puts approximately twenty million back into the "arbitrary budget" the Rangers have.
It would be worth it to let him pitch a few games and let him see how futile his future is in baseball. Or else, he makes liars outta all of us and starts competing.
I don't think Harrison is stupid, nor so self-absorbed, that he'd keep pushing to try to regain something which isn't going to happen.
If he insists he can still "get the job done" then so be it. You're right, cut his ass loose and be done with it, and now that's all on him.
Bennie kept arguing that peripherals aren't an indicator because he kept putting up good games. The fact I've said it from the start during the time he was pitching well does make it profound IMO.

Not really, most of us saw that coming, you just kept harping on it
If chi chi is allowed to pitch in AAA and develop an out pitch he should be fine. Otherwise he's not much better than Nick.
