@Evan_P_Grant: Beltre says All-Star break didn't help thumb. Asked if he should be playing: "That's a good question."

JD is nothing but loyal. Owed Harrison a few starts, I suppose. That and that damned guaranteed contract. Good chance we will be losing money on Choo and Harrison eventually.

But if you cut bait on Harrison, you can claim insurance money to cover part of Harrison's contract

If he is cleared medically are you sure they can use the insurance? I had the understanding that it was to be used when someone was too injured to play and not when they weren't able to perform to their previous level.

@SandlerJ: #Rangers GM Jon Daniels said that it's likely that a move/moves to balance the lineup would happen in the off-season, not the next few weeks

That's telling, if true, for this season, imo.

It means he's admitting what we already know. We've got no shot at contending and nobody wants any part of Choo.

We got to find out about Harrison the sooner the better. Don't wish for him to be bombed but HE has to determine if he's ready for the majors. I'm afraid due to our latest trajectory we will give him too much rope.
Agree 100% with you on that.

One thing for 100% sure we've got to do, and that is, address the left-handed hitting heaviness of our day-to-day line up.

It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for Odor, DeShields, and Telis. With the first two, we REALLY need them to progress. And if Telis proves decent with the bat, it'll certainly help our receiving situation, as well as, come at a pretty cheap rate too.
Yeah, we really messed up on that and the LH BP options.

Ain't that the truth. The FO is going to have to come up with something ingenious to move him out involving a few players and draft picks. Like taking a RH weight off of one team while we give them our LH weight.

As I understand you can, you can't be expected to pay all that money if he has no possibility of earning it bc of diminished performance due to injury

I hope that is true because I have not heard that we could recoup percentage unless he quit. How can you expect him to get his velo back. I don't.

Interesting lineup. No Choo and no Mitch. I bet Nick gets a hit tonight

Then just DFA him bc he ain't getting the velocity back, he's probably just eating up a roster spot on a pipedream at this point

We just might be heading that direction. I just have not heard under what conditions we can recoup some insurance because he sure does not look like the same pitcher.

Bottom half of the line up looks very suspect.

I see Matt giving it a few more goes and then probably retiring when he comes to the realization, he just isn't ever gonna be able to get it done again at the ML level.

Well, if we DFA him, then we're totally on the hook for his contract, until/when/if, a medical professional declares him unable to perform. And that's a very, very tough deal, without his cooperation.

Under this scenario, if Harrison just keeps insisting he wants to keep trying, I don't know how the Rangers could ever have a doc declare him "unfit for duty." Man-o-man, that could be so incredibly dicey.

Hopefully, Harry will not endanger himself, while at the same time, come to the realization, "there's a long, prosperous life after baseball" and he'll retire. Thus, doing the right thing for all parties.

So, absolutely nothing has changed over the past 3+ weeks then? hahahaha

If 1-5 aren't getting it done, its gonna be tough to score runs with the bottom of the lineup and the NL park
