Hadn't realized this:
-Alex Smith threw his first interception of minicamps in the opening 7-on-7 period. Pro Bowl cornerback Carlos Rogers stepped in front of a comeback route intended for Palmer.
Looks like Smith is committed to protecting the ball again. That's good to hear, though I hope the low INT numbers accompany somewhat better TD numbers this season.
The # of TD passes he threw in camp should be attainable - I wonder why they didn't provide both #'s.
I'd imagine someone has it, but it's much easier to keep track of one INT compared to the numerous TDs he threw over three days of a throwing-heavy camp.
Anthony Davis revealed on twitter that he sprained both of his thumbs today.
Ahh, so this writer was tasked with just tracking INT's - got it. I know someone tracked his 32 passes yesterday and he threw a couple/few TD's so I suppose that would be the writer that would have both the TD's/INT's - not that any of it matters but it would be interesting to know.
I doubt too many people were actually charting INTs and TDs. But when he threw one late on the third day, folks were probably like, "Hey, that's his first INT." I think Grant Cohn was charting all the passes, though. If you shoot him an email or comment on his blog I'd imagine he could fill you in.
Was just about to post this myself. I think he's a little over the top with the "one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL" business, but there really isn't anywhere to go but up in terms of explosiveness. I'd settle for top-16 across the board on offense.
three to four more years? not doubting if he might play that many more, but at what level? i'd think two more at this current level being optimistic? but no one except Jerrry Rice, fools father time.
Justin is totally correct on keeping a solid team together, especially one without a franchise QB. i recall reading where next year will already be tough keeping OUR own? this makes sense as good players earn more recognition, they seek more money, can't blame them.
any chance Alex Smith ascends to 'franchise' level? ok ok, lets not go there.

Yes. Wouldn't bet on it, but there's much more chance than it was after the 2010 season. I wouldn't bet yes or no until mid to end of this season... we'd need playoffs to evaluate for yes. For no, that could show any time from Game 1 to the SB. (I know some already have their answers, I'll wait on mine.)
ok, this made me think of Roethlisberger. while he's not a big stats guy in the regular season, he did show a lot during the play-offs.
this is what we're hoping for this season from Alex Smith, solid performances in the play-offs. doesn't need BIG passing stats, but solid in the sense he's efficient.

Veteran Minicamp: June 14
I think this is all Crabtree needed to do all this time to get more targets from Smith. Alex loves the number 85 and is attracted to it.
