Thought we could start a thread on the off-season program - on the mini-camps, training camp, etc. Articles, videos, whatever. Sticky, bump it, and whatnot. The other off-season threads seemed to center on the draft or signings. I'll start it off if anyone wants to join in.

Moss Joins Niners for Off-Season Football School - The Niners worked out on what they call Football School, where the players participated in no-contact drills to work on their fundamentals. Video is primarily on Moss. Kaepernick talks about Moss and finally having an off-season to learn from.

Mildy OT, but every year around this time I always wonder: of the players drafted by the Niners, which ones personally worked of for/in front of Niners personnel.

Here is what Alex did this off-season:

When asked what he did this offseason, Smith had this reply:

"A couple things. I saw a mechanics guru, or specialist down in LA. I went there to kind of clean some things up with my motion. I'm really focused on getting my fundamentals better. Really didn't have time last offseason to do it."

I'm excited that the participation level is so high. With the new CBA limiting instruction and reducing the number of workouts it's good to see players taking initiative to be a cohesive unit. I was always coached, start with the basics so I'm also loving their approach.

Exactly. There are a few common traits of the greats, one of which is to master the fundamentals.

I've seen a couple shots of Smith that looks as if he spent some time in the weight room as well. I think this team knows well how close they are and I'm sensing the requisite hunger to achieve.

This photo was just released - Maybe it is just me or the way Smith is postured but that doesn't even look like Alex Smith

Sorry... what photo are you referencing because the only one I see is clearly Kaepernick and I have no idea when that was taken.

I'm figuring the one of Kaepernick was taken recently due to all of the construction going on in the background

Kaep is just built like that. He's not a small guy at all. When he was drafted, he said he weighed 230. The long legs are just deceiving.

Here is the video of today's gauntlet drill:

Offense vs. Defense

Takeaways:

Moss' hands have reported for duty - I could watch him catch passes all day!
Crabtree's hands looked very good as well!
Manningham looked a little iffy?

The defense including Willis all looked good

The one eye-sore was at 2:44

Enjoy:

49ers Gauntlet Drill Offense vs Defense_5-1-2012

Just to add, if anyone is getting a choppy video feed I find if I set the video to full screen the video runs real smooth.

The position of his hands on a few of his catches were a little off causing less than a clean grab. Nothing big at all - but not nearly as smooth as Moss or Crabs.
