Official review from CNS:

"Yes, we have had evil, tyrannous Popes in the Middle Age's, and we are against gay marriage, abortions when the mother is in danger, and condom use when AIDS is at an all-time high; not to mention that minor r*pe scandal a decade or so ago, but we still condemn this new, irreverent, sacrilegious show from HBO. What's that? Our own Bible predicts in Revelations that we will have an evil Pope before the end of times? Shut up you jackass- find me a quote against sex before marriage, and send those two alter boys up already!"

Mean Streets: 2.5/5 stars. (This is a 2.5/5 picture with a negative rating, as it is my only rating that can go either positive or negative.) I've been on a kick with older movies lately, and decided to give this acclaimed classic a go. Though it was mostly decent throughout, it really had no very interesting aspects or characters to it. I understand that Keitel's character is supposed to be torn between the Mafia and Catholicism, but with very few references to it or motivation, I didn't really connect with that theme. Also, his girlfriend was completely superfluous. Continuing my trend of immensely enjoying De Niro's early work, I thought he did a very good job as Johnny Boy, a guy who today doctors would probably diagnose with Asperger's and maybe even ADHD. The last scene with him was funny, where he calls his boss a jerk off. Still, the movie left me unsatisfied, with little action, conflict, or drama to it. The ending was particularly bad in my opinion and left me with a hollow feel. It's not the worst way to spend an hour and fifty minutes, especially if you have a subscription to Xfinity's OnDemand and don't have to pay for it like me, but there are also a hell of a lot more better movies than this one.

Watched XXX last night, wife liked it, I didn't. There were a few laughs, but the movie lost me with the previews and riding a motorcycle under water.

The last movie I saw was either Interstellar: 4/5 stars or A Clockwork Orange: 4/5 stars. I forget which I watched first. A Clockwork Orange is a borderline masterpiece.

Barry Lyndon: 3.5/5 stars. Classic rise-and-fall chronicle of a man's life, with the theme of fate being paramount throughout the whole film. I wouldn't say I loved it, nor do I love Kubrick (at least not from the four movies of his I've seen), but I do have to appreciate how the cinematography and natural lighting viscerally puts one in the aura of the location where the events took place. Also, props to Ryan O'Neal for giving a HELL of a performance as the titular character. I mean, this motherfucker nailed all the themes of the movie: a desire to belong, fate, and grief.

I'd recommend if you like period pieces, Kubrick, and have 3 hours to spend.

Peaky Blinders S2: 3.5/5 stars. Not nearly as good as season 1 (4.5/5 stars), but still highly watchable and enjoyable. To those with Netflix, check it out. It's set just after WW1 in Birmingham, England, and deals with gangsters. It might sound similar to Boardwalk Empire, but the tone is highly different (FWIW, I enjoyed the first two seasons of PB more than the first two seasons of BE. Granted, BE didn't really take off until the third season IMO). Plus, only 3 seasons and 6 episodes a season (1 hour/episode), so it's not a huge investment of time.

I will be starting Sneaky Pete tonight. I have heard good things about it, even outside from Ced.

By the way, a new study was just published that concluded that 9 out of 10 men who have heard about Breaking Bad but have not yet watched it are gay

I just found out that annoying voice in the Mazda commercials was in Breaking Bad. I now have decided never to watch a single episode of that series.
Sorry, maybe my translator is off, but I just typed that in to my Gay-to-English translator. Here's what I got:

Gay: "I just found out that annoying voice in the Mazda commercials was in Breaking Bad. I now have decided never to watch a single episode of that series."

English: I like to suck lots of cock. Lots of big, black, juicy cock.

The translator also tacked on "Not that there's anything wrong with that"

I may have to reconsider Breaking Bad. I think Bryan Cranston was the producer of Sneaky Pete and that was a great show. I watched the whole first season. 4.5/5 stars. It was a lot like The Sopranos for me. After like episode 7 I wanted to save the last 3 because I know it will be a long time before they do another season.

He starred in it dude. He is the main gangster who is hunting Pete. I just finished the first episode right now.

Does it get better after the first episode? That's what everyone else has told me. The first episode was just "meh" to me; kind of like seeing Clay Buchholz in Phillies' pinstripes

Yeah, I know he was in it, but he also is mentioned in the credits for producing or directing it. I never questioned whether he was a good actor-he is.

I forget. I'm pretty sure I liked all the episodes. But then again I am easily amused. I like the fact that Ribisi took over Ethan Embry's identity. I get those two actors mixed up.

Also, Clay Bucholz is kind of "meh". He's like Shane Rawley on Steroids

no, but you've worn me down. I am going to watch Breaking Bad now. I'm hoping there is a tutorial in there somewhere on how to make my own adderrall, or at least something close to it
