Straight Outta Compton (Director's Cut): 3.5/5 stars. The first hour was great, but then the movie made some questionable decisions. I guess it's the same problem I had with 42- I'm so familiar with the source material that I got ticked off at some decisions. It's a shame Eazy-E got AIDS, but it doesn't make for good cinema. No talk of East Coast/West Coast beef? Also, was MC Ren a mute in real life like he was in the movie? Also, were they high for the casting of Dr. Dre? That guy looked more like Kima from The Wire than he did Dr. Dre. I was also surprised that they portrayed Jerry Heller sympathetically, but I kind of liked it. Paul Giamatti is a real talent- he was fucking awesome. Ice Cube's son was also great as Ice Cube. Overall, it's pretty good and free on HBO, so if you have time, check it out. The less familiar you are with NWA, probably the better.

They've made a Biggie movie, an NWA movie, and now a 2Pac movie is coming out. When am I going to see a Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince biopic???

Black Sunday (1976) 5/5. Excellent film about a Palestinian Black September terrorist plot to kill thousands at the Dallas-Pittsburgh Super Bowl in Miami using an ingenious technique involving explosive darts and the Goodyear blimp. Great acting by Robert Shaw as an Israeli commando, Palestinian mastermind Martha Keller, and Bruce Dern as the disgruntled, deranged Vietnam veteran and former POW, who seeks revenge against the VA and his country for his problems. Non-stop action. Includes 1976 Super Bowl footage. Very appropriate in the current environment of global terrorism.

The Bourne Identity: 4/5 stars. Really good movie, but I would have liked it better if Bin Laden had played Bourne

The Negotiator: 3.5/5 stars. Sammy Jackson was just ok, and the story line wasn't too interesting, but a great performance from Spacey and a good ending. I'd recommend if you're looking for a '90s action flick.

I love the Bourne Trilogy. You have to see the three to appreciate each one. Best thrillers out there.

Drive: 4/5 stars. Hell of a fucking cast. Gosling was great, as was Mulligan, Cranston, and Brooks. Pearlmann even surprised me with a great performance.

Silicon Valley S3: 4.5/5 stars

The Big Lebowski. 3/5. I liked it because it did have many funny scenes but it ended up somewhat unsatisfying. Jeff Bridges was great as the obnoxious slacker, “The Dude”. Best scene was Julianne Moore laying paint on a canvas by swooping in naked on a swinging rope. lol. Also Turturro's flamboyant purple-custumed bowler, Jesus, was hilarious. Funny thing, a looong time ago, a fellow employee at Hughes Air Crash in LA had a similar style, purple sneakers, socks, shirt, pants, helmet, and, of course, purple and chrome motorcycle. In the end, I really wanted to toss a large cherry pie in Sam Elliot's face. Maybe I should give this movie a 4/5.

Ever hear of a movie called "Family Enforcer" aka "Death Collector" ? Amazon seems to think I would like it. I started to watch it but the actual film quality is pretty bad. It is from the mid 1970's and features a young Joe Pesci. Then I saw this clip on Youtube and now I think I need to watch it just for comedic value.

I think it is the Mob Movie angle. They have some way of knowing that every time I see Goodfellas I stay and watch for a while

Quiz Show: 2.5/5 stars. Not an unenjoyable movie, but not much to do about it. I liked Turturro's performance, but I wish he was sympathized more, as he did kind of get fucked over

Braindead - Episode 4. 4/5 stars. I am planning to watch the whole season but just wanted to see a sample episode to make sure it is worth watching. It did not disappoint! The most memorable scene was the one where Michael Martinez accidentally walks in on Reuben orally gratifying Chris Wheeler. As he's walking away smiling, Martinez says "I think I'm going to be in this organization for a long time...."
