The Jekyll & Hyde "production"....and lack thereof by this team is becoming a real problematic mess right now.

The Mets continue their road trip on Friday when they begin a four-game series against the Washington Nationals (16-21). You can catch the game on WPIX-11 beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET. LHP MacKenzie Gore (3-2, 3.65 ERA) will get the start for the Nationals. Meanwhile, the Mets have not announced any pitchers for this upcoming series.

Mets Friday’s starting pitcher at Washington remained to be determined, but manager Buck Showalter confirmed before Thursday’s game that it wouldn’t be RHP Max Scherzer, who was scratched from Tuesday’s start with neck spasms. “He threw from 90 feet today,” Showalter said. “He’s improving each day.”

Buck Showalter indicated that RHP Tyler McGill (3-2) could be Friday’s starter against the Washington Nationals. “We’re waiting to see how things shake out a little bit,” Showalter said.

WASHINGTON -- New York Mets right-hander Max Scherzer is expected to start Sunday or Monday against the Washington Nationals after throwing a bullpen session Friday.

Scherzer, who was scratched from his start Tuesday against Cincinnati because of neck spasms, threw about 30 pitches before the opener of a four-game series against one of his former teams.

"That was encouraging," manager Buck Showalter said. "The earliest he would pitch is Sunday. We'll see how he feels tomorrow. He had a pretty extensive work day, which is something he hasn't been able to do. I could just tell by his face he's upbeat about it."

The three-time Cy Young Award winner has pitched only once since a 10-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's prohibition on sticky substances during an April 19 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Scherzer yielded six runs in 3⅓ innings against Detroit on May 3 and is 2-2 with a 5.56 ERA in five starts.

Scherzer said he has experienced neck spasms throughout his career and has regularly done neck exercises as a preventative measure.

The 38-year-old also had a start pushed back last month because of back soreness, and Scherzer has not made consecutive scheduled starts since April 4-10.

"Having the neck flare up a little bit gave some more time for the back," Scherzer said. "Hopefully, I can hopefully get through everything, get out there and get pitching and get in the swing of things."

Mets - Nats game was in a rain delay in the top of the 3rd, and after 4 hours of waiting, it was finally suspended.

Double header on Sunday.
The makeup game will be continued in the 3rd...with the Mets batting w/ runners at 2nd & 3rd...1 out..and Nimmo at the plate.

The Mets did not announce their pitcher for the continuation of Saturday's game.
RHP Max Scherzer (2-2, 5.56 ERA), who was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday in Cincinnati with neck spasms, will pitch the second game. Scherzer is 2-0 with a 3.06 ERA against his former team since he joined the Mets.

The Nationals have not yet named a pitcher for the continuation.
RHP Jake Irvin (1-0, 0.84), who tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings against the Giants on May 8 for his first major league win, will start the second game

This is embarrassing at this point
It's beyond embarrassing......it's totally unacceptable.

Uncle Steve will not allow this to continue.
Some abrupt changes are probably coming real soon, unless they find a way out of the malaise they're in currently and start playing winning baseball like they should be.
