Interesting. Santana was on the Sox earlier this year. Sucked something awful.

Makes the most sense for the FO..as he'll be a FA after this season.

Thor won't be a FA for 2 more years....but the catch 22 is, he can definitely bring the Mets a better return for prospects to restock the farm than Wheeler can IMHO.

NESN is reporting that Syndergard and Diaz are both being sought by the Red Sox and Benitendiis is the main piece from the Red Sox. No one has a good handle because the deal is in total flex and could get bigger on both sides.

GM Brodie Van Wagenen still hasn't spoken publicly about the deal and isn't expected to until after Wednesday's trade deadline. Other than that, the Mets have scratched a minor-league outing for Ervin Santana just to cover themselves in case Thursday starter Zack Wheeler is dealt, though they could also push up Steven Matz's next start. Meanwhile, Noah Syndergaard is here at Guaranteed Rate Field, preparing for his scheduled start tonight against the White Sox. Stay tuned.

Mets asking for MLB-ready players for Syndergaard

July 30: Even after adding right-hander Marcus Stroman in a deal with the Blue Jays on Sunday, the Mets "still appear to be sellers, capable of going in several directions," MLB.com's Anthony DiComo writes.

However, it seems like the club is more interested in a reboot than a rebuild.

The addition of Stroman, who is under control for only one more season before he can become a free agent, was evidence of that, and here's more: the Mets are requesting Major League-ready pieces in exchange for righty Noah Syndergaard, even from teams with top farm systems, according to MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal.
