Football seems to be the only sport where the GOAT is actually up for change throughout the course of history.

Basketball, you have people who will adamantly defend Jordan. You have newer fans who will adamantly claim Lebron. Honestly I've been on team Jordan for as long as I can remember, but given what Lebron is STILL doing that argument is growing slimmer by the day. Even still, I don't think there will be a consensus on this.

Baseball you have Ruth. Bonds maybe 2nd?

For basketball and baseball is there anything a new player could actually accomplish that would make any of you change your minds on who the new GOATs for these sports would be?

I'm from the Chicago area so it's always been said around me that Jordan is the GOAT but most arguments revolve around "he won more championships and never lost one" so he was a better teammate? Lebron would bully MJ in a one on one game, but Curry can probably beat any of those guys if he gets hot. I think it's okay to say that MJ, Lebron, Kobe, etc. can all be the GOATs of a generation and the game has just changed so much that it's impossible to compare.

NFL it's hard with the huge differences asked of the different positions. For me, Manning has been the GOAT QB for me because I thought he was the better QB than Brady, but Brady was the better winner. RB I think it's Sanders, just doesn't have the numbers. WR is insane to try and pick.

MLB it's Bonds and it's not even close with anyone else. HIs stats and records can be looked at hundreds of times and the awe never goes away. Ruth is good but again, the period was so insanely different.

I reckon i'll say this again. I am glad you joined us but being you feel this way you certainly didn't have to. Kinda seems like a punishment for you.

I work 55 hours plus a week and do kids sports another 10 to 15. I am way tied down and it just isn't enjoyable unfortunately.

Nothing to do with the mocks or you all at all. It just falls typically when I'm in the middle of something and then I'm scrambling.

For me, (and im absolutely the wrong person to ask) virtually every time it's landed on me it's been like 6/7 PM. The scope of this draft is pretty huge, youre talking effectively every player ever in the 3 major sports. There just isnt time to sit and do it correctly and do the draft justice.

Ive been out of these for that reason. I just take zero enjoyment of feeling the obligation of being on a clock for a mock draft that ultimately means nothing.

But again, im the way wrong person to ask.
All my blame is on @Pack 500 and @Mebert I am either OTC when I wake up or when I am ready for sleep lol

Depends on the era.

Brady is pretty much set in stone but Mahomes for GOAT is building quick. Going to be difficult to beat Brady if one year you throw my INT’s than TD’s but I am not against the argument if he shatters records and wins a ton of rings like Brady.

Baseball is tough but I still feel Ruth is GOAT. People will argue Bonds played in an era where it was more difficult to hit, more talent, etc….kind of like MJ-Bron era in basketball. Same as bball, both are 1-2 consensus imo

Basketball I feel like for most of Lebron’s career MJ was GOAT but I just don’t see how it is possible. Lebron played like most play in their prime at 40. Unreal. 20 straight seasons with 25-6-6 is not human. MJ more rings but you could argue Lebron’s competition to try and get those rings was more tough by far.

I see it is a 2 man race in every sport just depending on preferences, era, etc. I even said for most of my life I thought MJ was GOAT but things change. Brady passed Montana, maybe some day Mahomes will pass Brady

Another point for NBA. We are actually talking about 7 footers needing an outside shot to take their game to the next level and having a chance in this league. 30 years ago it was the opposite, you were a unicorn

Brady has the most rings. He’ll never be the GOAT to me. He was never even the QB I’d want most while he was playing tbh.

Now Ohtani, he has a shot at GOAT.

And i want to shout out @Nosferatu for all he has done over the years. Dude, the time investment on your end is massive. I'm bitching about making picks.

Props brother.
Hell yeah.

I’m in my second year after inheriting commish duties of my money league in fantasy football. League is older than I am. And I don’t want to even play next year. lol. It feels like work and I can’t handle the bitching.

Big props to Tommy for handling these.

Sorry for the delay on the pick, I took a nap after binging Escape at Dannamora.

Benicio Del Toro kills it in this jail break mini series. If anybody is looking for a Netflix binger, I highly recommend.

I took Bonds over Ruth because I fucked up. Not because I was making a statement.

Thought we were only doing post integration. lol. My bad.

I’ll always say Jordan, because I’m old and romanticize the past, also he didn’t chase a ring and never lost in the finals. I will always say Marino, because he’s the best thrower of a football that I ever seen play, Brady certainly is the winningest. I'll always say the Bambino, because all we can do is compare him to his peers and he hit more home runs than some teams did. It's like Don Hutson, what he did was fucking incredible.

I figured it would be slower. When we did them all the time we got in a groove. I will admit I forget sometimes so then it takes more time to research bc it's 3 sports in one
Yeah... coming back after a 6 month hiatus and jumping into a 3 sport draft with 14 or so people is a bit ambitious. I have been trying to wing it and am failing miserably.

You are an assistant to the crack whore! Your NBA team is arguable in the top 2 at this point and your MLB team is very solid, you just ain't paid attention to the NFL yet.

If I keep working hard and perfecting my craft, I could end up becoming a full-fledged crack whore.

@CitySushi

there’s absolutely room for new goats for me. There will always be human, sports, and sports science evolution and that will naturally keep producing new goats over time. Has to be that special blend of ability, chips, and accolades, and the also the right intangibles like championship killer mentality where youre at your best in the biggest moments. I think all that prob applies more to basketball than baseball but if all that comes together in a new player, he can be the goat.

Luka is an interesting case given hes a pretty poor defender. Would take multiple titles to get him anywhere near the room.
