The Mets will go with RHP Marcus Stroman in the 1st game on Thursday...and have called up RHP Trevor Williams from AAA Syracuse to make his Mets debut as the starter for the 2nd game.
Washington has not yet decided on their starting pitchers for either game.

Funny thing about these "mound visits"
They almost always never seem to do any good right afterwards.

Stro has been lights out for 5 innings...then in the 6th gives up a leadoff walk to the 8th place hitter, then a single...which prompted the mound meeting. Next batter doubled in a run...to make it a 4-1 game.
Nats now have runners on 2nd & 3rd..with no outs.
Stro then got a K....but now Aaron Loup is in to hold the fort...with Soto at the plate.

Loup walked Soto...after he had him 0-2.
Bags full. 1 out. Josh Bell is up.

Loup gets Bell to GIDP (4-6-3) to keep it a 4-1 Mets lead...heading to the bottom of the 6th.

Sure would be nice....especially with the Dodgers looming.
They'll be at Citi this weekend.
Then the Mets come out here to SF for 3..then head down to LA for 4.
Very tough 10 game stretch....then the Giants are at Citi for the following homestand.
Not gonna be easy at all for these dog days.

Mets had chances to get on the board the last 2 innings but haven't been able to cashed in.

Okay...Mets are on the board 1-0 in the 4th...on b2b leadoff doubles by Conforto & Davis.

Villar singled.... moving Davis to third.
McCann grounded into a force out at 2nd to plate Davis making it 2-0.

Onto the 5th.

Williams gives up a 1 out double and single...to put runners at the corners in the 5th.
