Well, the millions who love hockey and enable the NHL to pay ALL of it's players closing in on a million dollars a year, don't give a shit about your opinion and you are not the King of the World so your opinion is almost worthless, basically worth as much as mine or anyone else's.

And if you think that #s help you out, they don't. No one is arguing cfb isn't #1 among college sports, but fencing probably ranks near the bottom with rowing and water polo.

Hockey arguably ranks 3rd behind only cfb and cbb.

and I’m sure there are people out there like you who love rugby, cricket, team handball and badminton, but most don’t. Just like hockey. But I do think it’s funny that you are attempting to equate hockey to football. Even more ridiculous is that you are comparing college hockey to college football. Do you think the average Alabama fan would rather a national championship in hockey over football? What about Clemson? What about any college in the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, AAC, or Pac12. Face it, you live is this little world where people consider hockey a main sport. Even women’s basketball is more popular than hockey which is why their championship is nationally televised.

i would actually put dance titles on equal footing as hockey. How many hall of fame baseball players has minny had. And the bottom line is that football is the only college sport I really care about. and I can honestly say that hockey and fencing are in the same category.
UMn has produced TWO first ballot Hall of Famers, one who was at one time the worlds highest paid athlete, Dave Winfield and Paul Molitor.

The Gopher Baseball program has won THREE NCAA Titles, most of any northern baseball program.
The Gopher Baseball program has made 32 NCAA tourney appearances, most in the B1G.
The Gopher Baseball program has won just shy of 30 B1G conf titles.
The Gopher Baseball program has produced 3 ABCA Hall of Famers
The Gopher Baseball program has produced 9 First Round MLB draft picks, the most of any B1G program.
The Gopher Baseball program has had 140 players taken in the MLB draft since 1966, including at least one player every season since 1987.
The Gopher Baseball program has produced just shy of 50 All-Americans.

I started this thread in the POLITICS forum, and hence why I singled out Notre Dame, because of ND's role in messing up America.

Theodore Hesburgh? If you don't know who that is, you should maybe educate yourself.

How many in the last 50 years?

None. According to ncaa-.com (fred says they aren't valid) Ohio State's won a college world series ('66) more recently than Minnesota ('64).

And that is the ONLY Natty Ohio St has won in Baseball. Michigan's 2nd and last title was in 1962.

In 1964 only S Cal had more Natl Titles than Minnesota.

Wasn't until 1983 that Texas passed up UMn with their 4th Title.

Wasn't until 1987 that Ariz St passed up UMn with their 4th Title.

Wasn't until 1997 that LSU passed up UMn with their 4th Title.

Wasn't until 2001 that Miami passed up UMn with their 4th Title.

Wasn't until 2012 that Arizona passed up UMn with their 4th Title. A former Gopher coached Zona to their first 3 Natl Titles.

As of 2021, UMn is STILL tied for 7th ALL-TIME with 3 Natl titles with Oreg St and Cal St-Fullerton.

The average salary of an NHL player is actually HIGHER than the average NFL player, and the average money people pay to watch NHL games is higher than NFL games, yes admittedly that is because there are more NHL games each season than there are NFL games, but still, more money is spent by American sports fans to see NHL games than is spent by American sports fans pay to see NFL games.

Seems like someone has to care about hockey, lol.

I'm NOT trying to equate college hockey to college football, nor am I trying to equate UMn football to ND football.

I may be comparing UMn's academics and research very favorably to NDs, and UMn's athletics in general rate pretty well, too, historically and currently.

For undergrad, Notre Dame is superior to Minnesota in terms of academics.

For undergrad, Notre Dame is superior to Minnesota in terms of academics.
And for everything else UMn is superior, and ND is only superior when the ratings system gives a lot of weight to SAT scores of incoming freshmen. So ND is more stuck up and elitist, that hardly means superior. They take in only the smartest and do what with them? They were smart enough going in they would have been successful with or without ND. But UMn takes in some of the not quite so smart and turns them into successful people.

UMn takes in more people, and puts out more people and trains them in more diverse fields.

UMn brings in 4 times as much in research dollars than ND.

So UMn impacts the world in positive ways, ND impacts the world how? I only know of negative stuff. But hey, they have a good football program, so that's all that matters, right?

When I mentioned Ohio State's lone baseball title I was making fun of you. Nobody gives a shit about baseball titles.

And the rest of the nonsense you posted is more of your dumb gibberish.

Well this is just dumb.

Massive $20m donation to Pitt leads to bizarre name change for head coaching position

Panthers HC Pat Narduzzi got a new job title yesterday. Instead of being the head football coach he'll now be known as the Chris Bickell '97 head football coach

It's funny how you think Minnesota is some kinda elite powerhouse. I have never seen someone overly pimp up their team in the way you do. Congrats for being completely irrational.

Depends on who Minnesota is being compared to.

UMn vs ND football? No comparison that doesn't involve a time machine.

UMn vs USC baseball? No comparison that doesn't involve a time machine.

UMn vs Kentucky basketball? No comparison that doesn't involve a time machine.

Point being, with a time machine, UMn COULD be compared to the current #1's in all 3 of those Major League representative sports.
UMn's the only school in all of history to have an alum or alums coaching in all 4 major league pro sports at the same time. UMn's the only school in history to have won multiple Natl Titles in all 4 of the Major League representative sports. UMn could still be the only program in the nation with multiple Hall of Famers in all 4 of the Major League sports.

And UMn IS currently the #1 hockey program of all-time, in both men's and women's hockey.

UMn ranks Top 20 in the # of players it's sent to the NBA.
UMn ranks Top 20, probably, in the # of players it's sent to the Naismith HOF.
UMn ranks Top 20 in the # of All-Americans it's had in cbb.
UMn ranks Top 20, maybe, in the # of Natl Titles it's won in cbb.
UMn ranks Top 20 in the # of players it's sent to MLB.
UMn ranks Top 20, probably, in the # of players it's sent to the Baseball HOF.
UMn ranks Top 20, probably, in the # of All-Americans it's had in cBb.
UMn ranks Top 10 in the # of Natl Titles it's won in cBb.
UMn ranks Top 20, maybe, in the # of players it's sent to the NFL.
UMn ranks Top 20 in the # of players it's put in the cfb HOF.
UMn ranks Top 10 in the # of players it's put in the NFL HOF.
UMn ranks Top 20, maybe, in the # of All-Americans it's had in cfb.
UMn ranks Top 10, in the # of Natl Titles it's won in cfb.
UMn ranks Top 5, probably, in the # of wrestlers it's sent into some kind of professional wrestling.
UMn ranks Top 5, probably, in the # of wrestlers it's had enter wrestling HsOF.
UMn ranks Top 5-10 in the # of All-Americans it's had in cwr.
UMn ranks tied for 6th in the # of Natl Titles it's won in cwr.

UMn's got arguably one of the Top 5 VB programs in the nation of the 21st Century.

UMn's got the #1 Dance Program in the nation, of all-time.

UMn's CC team finished 5th last year, and is ranked Top Ten this year again.

UMn's won a Track Natl Title and even a Men's Golf Natl Title(not bad for a school located in a state covered in snow at least 1/3rd of the year)

UMn ranks Top 25 All-Time in the Sears Director's Cup.

In 2014, fully ONE THIRD of the athletes the B1G conference sent to the Sochi Olympics were UMners!

UMn ranks Top 5 in the last decade at producing Academic All-Americans and ranks at least Top Ten, if not Top 5 all-time at this.

Only ONE public university has been associated with more Nobel Prize winners than Minnesota.

Among Public Research Universities in America...
UMn ranks Top 10 in Total Research dollars they bring in,
UMn ranks Top 10 in the size of their Endowment,
UMn ranks Top 10 in annual giving,
UMn ranks Top 10 in # of Faculty Awards,
UMn ranks 6th in the # of Post Doctoral appointments,
UMn ranks 7th in the # of Natl Merit Scholars.
UMn ranks 11th in Federal Research dollars they bring in,
UMn ranks 12th in # of Natl Academy Members,
UMn ranks 12th in # of Doctorates.

All of that combined, makes UMn elite.

Will any of that result in UMn's winning more Natl Titles in cfb? No.

But a new stadium, a new coach and now a new practice facility, plus an 11-2 record in recent memory pre-covid memory, 3 straight home game sellouts and the first half time lead on a Ryan Day coached OSU team ever, could help lead to that happening?

Nobody homers like you.
