It's special because it's once every few years.

23 games between 1973 - 2018, a 45.1 year span.

Ok, I figured it out for some of them.

Phoenix did the Magic Box Score.

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Box Score, February 20, 1988 | Basketball-Reference.com

But I don't know how that's related to this game, because Lance Stephenson screwed it up here:

Indiana Pacers at Minnesota Timberwolves Box Score, October 24, 2017 | Basketball-Reference.com

Also, it seems like most of these games were before I started watching basketball.

So the Magic Box Score is still special, because it rarely happens in the nuraman00 era.

Also, you probably helped me form another argument with my long post about offenses, that I've been teasing for more than a year.

So can you find the alternate Magic Box Score, where everyone shoots <.500?

And what does this mean for the new car that you drove off the lot?

@MHSL82, why didn't you tell me the Magic Box Score existed before the nuraman00 era?

This wasn't a requirement for the Magic Box Score. But now I'm wondering, do any of those have EVERYONE shooting better than 50%, not just tied at 50%?

I don't know if I mentioned before what inspired me to search for the Magic Box Score.

But this game was one of them:

Los Angeles Clippers at Portland Trail Blazers Box Score, December 15, 2006 | Basketball-Reference.com

The Clippers shot almost 59%, and lost by 10.

I had never seen a team shoot that well, and lose by that much.

Portland seems to have won because they only committed 4 turnovers.

So I think I was wondering, "did the Clippers need to shoot greater than 60% to win?" Cassell and Kaman screwed it up by shooting less than 50%.

I must’ve missed it. It doesn’t qualify if someone shot less than 50%.

Only look so box scores when the team shot 65% or more. So there must be a few more otherwise. I didn’t have time to go all the way down to 50 something.

I posted this before I knew what the trend was. I was just commenting that you listed 23 games, and there have been 45.1, probably 45.2 seasons of data now.

Actually I thought this was related to the Jazz-Mavs game. But then when I looked at one of the box scores, I didn't see turnovers. So I wasn't sure, but thought my general observation of games occurred / years applied.

Do you think it's special, because it's rarely happened since the 90s included?

Also, remember to throw out the 2017 Indiana-Minnesota game, since Stephenson shot < .500.

Also can you see if any of these has EVERYONE shooting above .500? That wasn't the original requirement, but it would be nice to see if it's happened.

And can you find the reverse box score, where everyone shoots <.500?

I think I tried searching for the worst FG% games before, using the box score search tools, but didn't find it. But you are probably better and luckier than I am.
