It might be a function of the West sucking this season though.

Carlisle's team is 4 games worse than they were last year.

They are the 4 seed now but last year they would have been a 6 seed with a record 4 games better at this point.

He is still a very good coach, but it seems like the West has fallen apart finally.

Still though, they lost Ellis, Rondo, Chandler, have an aging Dirk and have a bunch of fill-in vets on that roster.

He seems to be maximizing the play from guys like Williams, Pauchulia, Barea, Harris, McGee, etc. Plus, Parsons and Matthews haven't been 100 percent all season yet.

It helps that the Rockets, Pelicans, and Jazz have not played as well as people thought they would, but you still gotta win the games and he's helped them take care of business more often than not. I think it's between him, Skiles, and Gundy for COY right now. I would have given it to Luke Walton, but he hasn't officially won any games this year as head coach.
