Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s meeting with the Dodgers yesterday at Dodger Stadium featured star power that included Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman….and Shohei Ohtani, sources tell me and @Ken_Rosenthal.

If they get Yamamoto too then the MLBPA needs to step in. The Dodgers won’t get taxed and all of the cheap owners aren’t raising their payrolls. The PA have let the owners skirt the intent of the CBT for too long.

I am mostly just speaking from how this could be curbed because most PA members are getting screwed by the Dodgers on this. They have been way to lenient on with the exploitation of luxury tax and now this is the most obscene of an in force example while we have what 6 teams that have already stated openly that they have to/are cutting payroll.

Problem with the Mariners is they have the resources to be one of the haves. Reportedly the Giants offered Ohtani the same contract the Dodgers gave and the Mariners are in a better situation in terms of everything outside of on field success. The M’s don’t have the bankroll of the Dodgers, Yankees or Mets but can easily get to a dollar under the tax and still make a profit. Sports is different than normal business, fans get mad at ownership group because they are begging to give them money but they refuse to take it.

Right-handed starter Tyler Mahle and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a two-year, $22 million contract, sources told ESPN. Mahle underwent Tommy John surgery in May and should return this season, and he can earn another $5 million in performance bonuses based on IP in 2025.

BREAKING: Right-handed starter Jack Flaherty and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year, $14 million contract, sources tell ESPN.

Jack Flaherty's deal with the Tigers can max out at $15 million, with start-based bonuses of $250,000 for the 26th, $250,000 for the 28th and $500,000 for the 30th. Flaherty joins a Tigers rotation that already added Kenta Maeda this winter and has a lot of young talent already.

BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are in agreement on a trade to send RHP Tyler Glasnow and OF Manuel Margot to the Dodgers for RHP Ryan Pepiot and OF Jonny Deluca -- contingent on Glasnow signing an extension with L.A., which is expected, sources tell ESPN.

KC going in on raising payroll and the Brewers trying to sell is weird. My understanding is both franchises are in heated stadiums negotiations.
